Wondering if anyone had any idea about the teams that were going to be there. Noticed in WIN that some of the better teams like Ok St. weren't scheduled to attend this year. Noticed about the only top 25 outside of MU were Indiana and Edinboro. Most looked like they were going to Omaha.

OKlahoma and Illinios I believe will be there...They have been going since it started. Old Dominion was there last year so was UTC. If they get that group it will still be a rough tournament.
Div I:
Edinboro
Illinios
Mizzou
Oklahoma
Indiana
Tennesse-Chatanooga
Northern Illinios
Eastern Illinios
Old Domninion
Wisconsin (frosh only)

Div II:
Truman
CMSU
SIU-Edwardsville
maybe some others

Div III:
????

NAIA:
Bacone
Lindenwood
Mo Valley
McKendree
(I Know Mo Bap is going to the Kauffman Brands)

Juco:
Meramac
Neosho
and some others

UTC and Northern Illinois does NOT have the Missouri Open on their schedule. I cannot find a website for Edinboro. Top wrestlers from Illinois (A. Tirapelle & Friedl) and Oklahoma (Hazewinkle, Ware, & Flaggert) will be at All-Star match (next day) and will probably not be at MU Open. Kyle Ott will probably not wrestle until January. So listing schools that were there last year or the last few years doesn't help too much in figuring out who will be there. The tournament is clearly weaker than it has been the last few years, presumably because there are more choices and because of the All-Star match.

WIN magazine posted the top 25 schedules and Edinboro had the MU Open listed for this weekend.

Card, thanks. Of course Edinboro's most accomplished wrestler, Shawn Bunch (who was at the MU Open two years ago unattached), wrestles in All-Star match. So his participation in the MU Open is not certain.

Edinboro University "Missouri Open" release. So it certainly looks as though they will make the trip to Columbia. A nicely put together newsletter.

A little more MU Open info:

For Illinois, I've been told that Flores will wrestle 133 and Poeta 157. Joe Gomez (125) has been sick this week, so it isn't clear if he'll wrestle. Illinois freshmen will there in force, so this is a first chance for many to see the Illini blue-chip recruits Nick Guida (174 or 184) and Patrick Bond (197). It is unclear if Sean Reynolds will wrestle, as he is enrolled at a community college in Champaign this semester.

Since Indiana will be there, I'm hoping that their blue chip recruits Angel Escobedo (133) and Matt Coughlin (157) will also participate. Coughlin just beat AA Brandon Becker in the Indiana wrestle-off.

Is anyone familiar with the Oklahoma freshmen? Were any of them blue chip recruits?

Shane Vernon was Oklahoma's Big recruit and he did Ok at the Brockport Open and may be their 157 this year as a true freshman

Tiger Wrestling Fans,

We are preparing for the MO Open and a major part of running the tournament as smoothly is having all the great volunteers we have had in the past. We will have 11 mats going so we will need two shifts of workers, 33 the first shift and 33 more in the afternoon. You may work both. We also will take donations of food for the "Best Hospitality Room in the Country" the hospitality room feeds the 17 refs, over 100 coaches, trainers and all 100 plus volunteers that we have working. Please contact Jennifer McCormick for more details on the Hospitality room at jmccor06@sprintspectrum.com

Thanks for everyone's support and I look forward to seeing you all on Nov. 20th.

Coach Smith

Help Needed For Missouri Open

.Volunteers Needed For Annual Tournament.

Columbia, Mo. - The sixth annual Missouri Open is scheduled for Nov. 20, with more than 600 wrestlers from 20 teams expected to attend the all-day event. Volunteers can sign up for one of two shifts, the first running from 8:30 am to 1 pm, the second running from 12:30 pm to 5 pm.

Those interested in helping with the tournament should contact Total Person Program Mentor Tyron Woodley at woodleyt@missouri.edu, or call Smith at (573) 882-0735.

For some reason I thought that Edinboro's Shawn Bunch was participating in the All-Star match. Oops, my mistake. I've added him above to the group of 133 pounders.

Does the BOLD command not work?

Anyone have any idea how results are being updated? This morning the results were updated pretty regularly, but that stopped around noon. Then nothing for 2+ hours, before some updates around 3:00 pm. Now its been another 2+ hours with no updates.

Is the guy who's doing the web updates the same guy who's selling snow cones? (Just kidding.)

For most weights there are no updates from quarterfinal matches and few from consolation brackets. Judging from last year, I seem to recall that consolation rounds were winding up now (5:30) and the finals had begun. The year before things were running a bit later, but then again there were more Div I teams.

Mr. Haynes, I heard Foust pulled a rib muscle or something similar.
