Who are some very good wrestlers that never qualified for state?
One I can think of is Rob Betz from Northwest in 01. During his time he had beaten Riley Baker (State Champion), Jeremy Guyton (4th in State), Steve Smith (6th at State), and a load of other State Qualifiers but he had a bad case of choking during Sectionals. He would lose at Sectionals to kids he major decisioned all year long.

One year he lost to Mark Black to go to state. i think it was like 1-0 and mark rode him out the third period (not sure about that though.). Betz also beat Labosco at the Vianney tourney didnt he.

Yes, Betz beat Lobosco like 12-3 his senior year.

Actually...Steve Watson played basketball at Howell his freshman and sophomore years. Started wrestling as a junior and qualified for state, then took 2nd in state his senior year. Kind of interesting, actually.

Godfather:
Who was the wrestler who wrestled and played basketball during the same season 3 or 4 years ago? I'm thinking he was from U City. He wrestled in the Missouri-Illinois post season meet at Meramec.

You go there? The one in O'Fallon? I took it in November but then business got slow and I can't afford an extra bill. I'll be heading back up there in February or more likely March since business is finally picking up again. It's a good scool (if you are at the one I am talking about) and J.W. is a really cool cat. He has a video online where he put Nick Zona in an armbar in seconds for their fight.

Yes Lodune, that's the same place you and I were talking about. I'm planning to start up there after little league is over...hopefully.

Right on then, hope to see you there. I really need to get back into shape, so I'm looking forward to this. I can go for a good minute or two but then I will get gassed and beat up on.
I can't wait to get in shape and compete again like the olden days...
