WHY would you schedule a state championship tournament on the same weekend as Liberty national. That makes absolutely no sense at all. The best wrestlers in the state and the ones who are working very hard to improve will be at Liberty. You should be trying to attract the best kids in the state to be called "State champ". [-X

Ss,
Before waving fingers, keep in mind that the AAU State Championship has always been at the last weekend in February/1st weekend in March. Traditionally, Liberty Nationals has been on Saturday and many of the top wrestlers (especially those around St. Louis) have participated in both. All be it this is a long weekend with the drive back from KC. What is sad is that this year Liberty is a Saturday/Sunday event and kids are having to choose.
I agree about attracting the best kids in the state, but before we get too high and mighty, please consider how many of the "best kids in the state" come to the AAU Ozark Championships or the AAU MO National Challenge. I might add that these tournaments are trying to attact and showcase the best kids in the state, but many of these kids parents are not making the drive to St. Louis and attending local tournaments in their area. This is their choice and they have every right to that decision.
My post is not meant to imply anything on anyone nor to condemn Liberty Nationals or those going to it. Your post seemed to attack those involved in the planning and prepartion of AAU State which is simply not fair. Just my 2 cents.

My post is directed at those who are scheduling tournaments not those attending (i.e. first sentence). I guess the Liberty folks should have considered the dates also. Not every tourney can please everyone thats for sure but, the bigger ones you would think would communicate better AAU or USA. My point is mostly lets get the kids to those tournaments without having to pick one over the other( bigger tournaments).
