IMO, it is good to see that OP let some of their typically non-varsity wrestlers compete on the varsity team. I think it shows class and respect by creating some potentially close (closer) matches rather than an even more lop-sided meet that could have ended up in the range of 84-0.

Put your best possible guys on the mat. I haven't had much experience watching OP wrestle but as long as they conduct themselves with class as they are handing out the beatings...I see no reason to hold the wrestlers out of the lineup. They obviously work harder then most to attain such a level so why not let them enjoy the benefits? It's not their fault they are at a different level than most. There are 24 hours in each day, everyone has a choice on what they do with those 24 hours. Dominate but be respectful and I see no need to hold people back.

I understand your point, but what good would it have done. Both coaches probably realize that OP's JV is a class above WC's varsity. Yes, they would have still been respectful and had good sportsmanship if they sent out their best. Maybe some of these kids are seniors that just can't crack the varsity line-up? Maybe the coach decided to reward some of the hardworking kids? Maybe some of the starters needed a rest? Who knows, but I don't see how you can find fault in what they did.
Just one guy's respectful opinion.

I heard he was in the process of transferring to St Pius, when there was a problem w/ his transcripts and now he's not eligible. That, and the OP coaches wouldn't release him.

Kind of suprising myself that I'm agreeing with a Ray Pec guy :-) , but RP couldn't have said it better.
cardsfsc...Seeing as how you admit that you haven't had much experience watching Oak Park wrestle, maybe you should trust that the coaches, who have built a national top 5 team, would be making the right decisions for their program. Just a thought.

I heard that Zach Bailey decided that wrestling was interfering with Band Practice and quit the team.

Puckett, I guess I misunderstood the whole thread. I took it that some were complaining that OP sent out their full lineup. I just stated my opinion that as long as it's done with class...I see no reason why a team should "pull the dogs" off. Hell I thought I was being respectful to the OP staff. I don't get a chance to see them wrestle much but having been coaching for a great deal of time and I realize they have an excellent staff and all the respect in the world for them. All I know is I see reasons to sit guys and reasons not to. I think there are reasons for both so I'm not going to attack someone for putting their best guys out there. If my guy gets torched....it's his own fault. His opponent doesn't have to take it easy on him just because he is less skilled.

Elijah Madison. I believe he's from Salina, KS. He may have also been 2nd in KS state. Not totally sure about that info.

If I remember correctly, I think it was posted that he is ranked third in the nation for sophomore heavyweights.

score 77-0 with some J.V. wrestling. I shall assume Elijah won.
