Am I wrong or isn't the Gold division supposed to be for 1st year wrestlers only?
I see a USA state qualifier in the Midget Gold
and at least a 2nd year kid in the Bantom Gold.

I believe you are correct that the Gold Division is for 1st year wrestlers only. I am not involved in this tournament but you might want to contact the Rock-Lind folks and let them know who those wrestlers are so they can make the appropriate changes. I know they would appreciate information like that since they want to put on a tournament that is fair and above board.

It may be a clerical error on the part of the club, or the tournament. Or perhaps the last name seems familiar, but it is a brother or sister. Let the club or tournament know, and I'm sure they'll take care of it.

The Bantam Blue 55 lb weight class currently has 25 kids entered.

It is not a case of a similar name or sibling. In the Midget Gold 55 lbs. there is a 2006 USA state qualifier. I will let the club decide if they want to come clean. I am not going to call out a kid's name on this site because I am sure he is not to blame.

I see that they tracked team points last year, but the flyer doesn't say anything about it this year. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks, DD

It worked for me. The brackets are pdf files and it seems to take a little while to download it. If you have dial-up, it may take a looooong time.

Great tournament. a few bumps, but RL really stepped up and did a great job.
I hope the Bonhomme wrestler that left in the ambulance is doing well, and his arm ends up being ok.

I belive the 14Under need bigger mat space, and I was concerned about the the litte guys getting hurt from one the big boys landing on them. RL work hard in making the this tourament work, 1200 kids is big tourament. It may be time to do the Sat and Sun tourament like Mo Chan has gone to???

Scott,
I think you're right. I mentioned it to Matt yesterday and I bet he's already thinking about ways to improve it for next year. Their club did a good job of keeping it going. Great tournament with good competition and good officiating.

They will definitely have to split it into two days next year. I was there until 8PM last night, where I had a kid wrestle 3 times in 15 minutes. We were all anxious to get out of there, but it wasn't fair to him to wrestle that much. I had several parents say that they wouldn't be back next year if it was run the same way.
The officials did a good job, I thought and overall I think the tournament was good...I wouldn't recommend anymore 32 man brackets though.

If anyone knows the top 6 placers in the bantam Blue 55 lbs. weight class I would really appreciate it. How late did that one go. 8:30?

I saw some little guys wrestling on the other side of the gym while we were finishing our bracket right around 8PM.

I agree...just a long time to be there. As someone mentioned, I think it could be easily fixed by splitting it into a two day event. 1200 wrestlers is a lot to get into one day.
Overall, good job to RL for making this a successful tournament.

Just wanted to say thanks for the compliments. 1200 wrestlers is definately a house full. We are already looking at ways of improving for next year.

For a tournament of this size it went fairly smooth. I think I might know atleast a couple of those kids wrestling at 8:00 but the bracket they were in was moved from it's original mat when an open mat became available in order to complete it as soon as possible. That was the case throughout the day from what I saw, all you can ask for is to have mats full of kids wrestling and if that is the case and it was then sometime it just takes time. Good Job RL.

The St Charles Kid finished 4th. He is a first year wrestler that was running through the Gold division so he was put in at Blue. Over all he did a great job.

Good tournament and good officiating just to crowded as everyone knows. My son was wrestling the injured wrestler that had to be taken out in a ambulance. His club has informed me that Luke had to undergo an operation on his arm to remove a bone fragment, will be a couple months healing up, and sadly will lose the rest of this season.

Now that RL has set the bar, how long will it take for the entries (and then results) to be posted for the Missouri Challenge?

DEE DEE, As the folks at RL would tell you tournaments of this size are a major undertaking and they do a very nice job. It is more important to have a well run tournament for the kids, than to try to please all the silly demands of the parents. At the end of the day it won't matter if you knew the entries before or not. What club does your child wrestle for and when is your 1000 enrty tourn. I want to make sure i'm there and see how smooth it goes, and i will be posting until you have all the entries and results up. kind of forward for only being on since 12/30/07 :?

G's Dad, thanks for the totally unwarranted flame. This thread is about the Ozark Championships and therefore my comment was a pat on the back of the RL folks and not a slam on Zumwalt. Posting entries, brackets, and results are not the most important things for running a smooth tournament, but it sure can help. Having entries or more specifically, brackets with mat numbers posted prior to the Ozark tournament helped our coaches be organized. I compiled a list of all of our wrestlers and their mat number and bracket and our club secretary printed copies for all the coaches and a copy for each wrestler's family. By having our coaches organized, we never had to be paged and we never held up a match waiting for a coach to get to a mat. If other clubs had utilized the information that was made available by the hard work of the RL folks, maybe we wouldn't have been there until 8:30 waiting for coaches to be paged to mats.
We'll never have 1000 entries, but I can guarantee you that our club will always post entries and results in a very timely manner.
And finally, I'll have to go back and read the forum rules again because I didn't see anything stating that you had to have your account for over a year (with three whole posts) to be able to comment on how nice it is to have a club post entries and results in a timely manner. We need people on these forums sharing ideas, patting backs, and constructively criticizing when necessary if we want youth wrestling to be the best it can be. That's why I'm here, not to call people out for having an opinion. That said, I reserve the right to defend myself when I am called out, as in this instance. DD

Lindbergh you all did a great job!
DD I would like to think I can navigate myself around a computer but I don't have the software capabilities that RL has. I will do my best to get things posted. Brackets are in the final stages of being completed. With that said I cannot promiss that I will post them but I will do my best! I know that is a priority for some to know who is in there bracket I too like to view prior to the event! I just don't know if I can do it or not but you have my word that I will try my hardest to accomodate!

Denise, Thank you for all the hard work and for taking the time to politely reply to my post. I want to emphasize that I was not intending to put pressure on you, but instead to compliment RL for setting the bar as high as they did. I know a thing or two about computers, and I'll be glad to help you out in any way I can. I'll shoot you an email with my contact info. DD
