When you look at teams like Oak Park, FZW, Park Hill, Oak Grove, Richmond, etc. what are some of the things that these programs have in common?

I could be wrong, but the last I heard, Richmond didn't have cheerleaders. Coaches and wrestlers yes, but no cheerleaders.

Studs....All of those good teams have a core of 2 or 3 (or 8 or 9 in oak parks case) studs who usually score real big points

ok, my thought (and I don't know all those teams) but my opinion is little league programs that produce outstanding wrestlers that are capable of walking straight onto varsity as freshman.

I agree with the little league program. Having a great "farm system" if you will is crucial. The luxury of having kids ready to step in as freshmen and give you depth is what really separates the good teams from the run-of-the-mill.

They DID back when I was in high school, and they made state a lot more fun...especially in that hot tub at the Holiday Inn - Executive Center..... :smt025

you have all those then you have the guys that push their teammates adn continue to wrestle in the summer. Summer is where champions are made and that leads to the winter time and makes the rooma great room. Then you have the guys that push each other beyond and get them to fight even harder to win each and every time.

move ins :-) just playing
supportive parents for every wrestler rather good or bad. parents supportive of coaching staff rather their wrestler is good or bad. the wrestlers have to be a team no prima donnas. just my humble opinion.

Definitely a strong feeder program.
Coaches that not only know the moves, but Coaches that the kids respect, and have the charisma to get kids willing to do anything for them without question. If the kids look up to you then they are more willing to take you seriously and work harder for you.
Tradition is another big plus and you see it in schools like Platte County and Oak Grove. These small school can keep up with many large schools. I remember a Platte County kid saying how all they did was eat, play football, and wrestle down there.
Having a competetive practice room also helps increase the skill level of the kids.
Off season work.
Hard conditioning.
Strong Schedule.

Jonathan, in the future, please consider acting more like a beaver-hat. A$$-hats are not that appealing.
