From Discussion on Class 4 Bd. about GAC Tourn.
Going back to one GAC Tourn. has been discussed over and over since the seperation of the GAC. The GAC Tourn. can be done were they Wrestle as one Tourn. but, the Team score would be scored as seperate North and South Conference. Their are more then the Coaches who vote/decide on how things will be done. Ad's, Admin. and other School/District and Conference Officials decide what will take place.
General idea on how one Tourn. would work. Same type of format as St. Charles West Tourn. Friday night round robin pools within your conf. teams, top 2 from each pool go into 8 man bracket, wrestlers 3 & 4 from the pool round go into a 4 man bracket. Hand score 8 & 4 man brackets, highest place finisher from each Conf./Div. earns first place team pts. for their team/Conf. Div. Next highest place finisher for each Conf./Div. scores second place team pts. for their Team/Conf. Div. Do the same for 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, however far you want to place them. Their would be 4 kids from each Conf. in the 8 man bracket and 2 kids from each Conf. in the 4 man bracket. All kids can earn team pts. for each match they wrestle with their win pts. & advancement pts. and earn more team pts. with their place finish.
Wrestled as one tourn. but scored as seperate North and South Conference
Can be done, but AD's, Admin. Coaches and others have to agree.

Probably from one of the coaches at one of the GAC North schools. I hear he is pretty close with a couple of them.

Here are some of FZN's acommplishments of note:

Team: 4th year in a row FZN has won the GAC North (Set the record last year with 3 in a row) and had 6 champions (They had a record 8 champions in 2004).

Individual:
Matt Sherry-3X GAC Champion (only 22 3Xr's in history of GAC's)
Casey Stillman-2X GAC Champion (only 56 2Xr's in history of GAC's)
Matt Espey-2X GAC Champion
Justin Kliethermes-2X GAC Champion

Observations:
Tournament started an hour late because Washington got lost. (I heard team and coaches got on the bus, fell asleep and woke up when they were in Columbia)

I only witnessed a couple of matches where the Ref's were a determining factor in the match and stall calls were used sparingly. Ref report card gets a "B-". (Nice job by all of the refs, for the most part)

as far as reffing goes i thought they did a good job
one thing that really annoyed me was Rallo in the Vanvelkinburgh Graham match (yes class 4 i know) when Vanvelkinburgh got a takedown on the edge in ot barely keeping his feet in bounds but Rallo decided the match needed to end on his note so instead of calling a takedown he called graham for fleeing the mat and gave VV 1...I know its not THAT big of a deal but Its just vintage Rallo making sure a match ends exactly how he wants it too

Here is what I have for the following:
145
Pool: Ream (Holt) vs Clark (FZN). Result? Ream 7 Clark 2. It was a good tough match between two good wrestlers.

As a side note when Clark wrestled Keeney in the semi match Clark came up short loosing 8-6. Some controversy there because Clark was given a reversal at the very end of the match that would have tied it up and put in OT. After a discussion at the table it was decided that he did not get the reversal in before time expired.

But 19, keep in mind that that match was put into ot because of the penalty point going to Graham at the last few seconds of the match. (pretty sure it was a stalling point) so my opinion, and everyone has one, the fleeing the match point was very even to the stalling point.

No it was a clasping call and it was the right call because the ref called two reversal and then Vanvelkinburgh never broke the lock. They were both good calls.

Denmom

yes, you are absolutely right Northco. I didn't catch the clasping because I wasn't watching that match as closely as another but I do remember someone saying it was indeed clasping that tied it up. Thanks for clearing that up.
