I sure am glad that we split the GAC into 2 divisions. I would hate to have a full 8 man bracket. Congratulations you have a 103 lber, you just placed.

Have Wolfrum and Lococo met before? Should be the match of the tournament but I would say Wolfrum should prevail. Not neccessarily an easy road to the finals BTW.
Not this season, but based on past results, Wolfrum should win it. Lococo is looking good though, so it will be a great match.

If I am not mistaken they met two years ago at 135 and Wolfrum beat Loccoco every time. I think they wrestled three time.

As far as I know the only guys out for GAC. this Sat. is:
112 Greg Benenati: has been sick and brused shin
145 Brandon Wiest: Inj. from Lee Summit
Taylor Bolin is 103 as Chase Houdashelt was unable to wrestle challenge match due to injury

Where is Tim Hanify from Washington?
Actually if you have a wrestler that is dinged up some this would be a good one to sit out and make sure they are healthy. What happened to the prestige of the GAC tournament? When we moved into the area 8 years ago it was one of the toughest tournaments around the state! What is going to happen when Zumwalt opens the new High School in "07" (I think)?

When I moved into the area (34 years ago - St. Joes Hospital in St. Chuck) there was no GAC, when I started high school in 1986 there were only 5 teams: Francis Howell, Fort Zumwalt (North), Wentzville (Holt), St. Charles and St. Charles West, makes me wonder what people today might think of a 5 team tournament with no round robin which you only wrestled two matches.
So I'm not too sure about how everyone would feel if we went back.

Description of Red Herring
A Red Herring is a fallacy in which an irrelevant topic is presented in order to divert attention from the original issue. The basic idea is to "win" an argument by leading attention away from the argument and to another topic. This sort of "reasoning" has the following form:
Topic A is under discussion.
Topic B is introduced under the guise of being relevant to topic A (when topic B is actually not relevant to topic A).
Topic A is abandoned.
This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because merely changing the topic of discussion hardly counts as an argument against a claim.
I'ts too early in the morning for me to even attempt to understand what you are saying.

Going back to one GAC Tourn. has been discussed over and over since the seperation of the GAC. The GAC Tourn. can be done were they Wrestle as one Tourn. but, the Team score would be scored as seperate North and South Conference. Their are more then the Coaches who vote/decide on how things will be done. Ad's, Admin. and other School/District and Conference Officials decide what will take place.
General idea on how one Tourn. would work. Same type of format as St. Charles West Tourn. Friday night round robin pools within your conf. teams, top 2 from each pool go into 8 man bracket, wrestlers 3 & 4 from the pool round go into a 4 man bracket. Hand score 8 & 4 man brackets, highest place finisher from each Conf./Div. earns first place team pts. for their team/Conf. Div. Next highest place finisher for each Conf./Div. scores second place team pts. for their Team/Conf. Div. Do the same for 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, however far you want to place them. Their would be 4 kids from each Conf. in the 8 man bracket and 2 kids from each Conf. in the 4 man bracket. All kids can earn team pts. for each match they wrestle with their win pts. & advancement pts. and earn more team pts. with their place finish.
Wrestled as one tourn. but scored as seperate North and South Conference
Can be done, but AD's, Admin. Coaches and others have to agree.

If Wolfrum can not wrestle, the bracket would be reseeded with all the current seeds moving up one so there wouldn't be a free pass to the finals.

someones results are wrong at 171 are there 2 crossets? a few notes: 103- I believe Bolin weighs real light but he still looked good
112: Bradley wrestled up and still did great he was beating Brooks by
3 or 4 i think when he pinned him
119: Warner looked really good Hatchel is a great wrestler and Warner handled him with ease he hit a Beautiful high crotch in the 1st period and even impressed me on bottom with constant movement working for an escape or reverse and as always he looked great on top...Hatchel beat kennedy in 20t but there was some controversy and imo he should have been awarded points
125: Rodgers wrestled great against Bolin no fluke points at all he battled the whole match and lost when bolin tilted him with under 20 secs left Bolin might have to watch out for him at state!
130: Graham was winning for most of the match but VanVelkinburgh tied it up and took him down in ot....IMO he took him down but Rallo decided to call it fleeing the mat instead of a takedown...but VV won either way Kelly got pinned by graham but i believe he was winning when he got pinned and for 3rd place he was winning when he got thrown at the edge of the mat...legit takedown tho not a lucky day for him
135:Not that great of a match McCravy more or less dominated but got put on his back to make it look closer
140: Muehlenbrock looked good with a fall in under a min
145: Oeschner looked good
152: Lococococoo handled Newbold with no problem he looked pretty good would have loved to see him vs Wolfrum
160: Tracy has never been one for blowout wins but the score makes the match seem closer than it was i think he won by 3 maybe 4 he was clearly the better wrestler
171: I left after 60 but a friend of mine says he thinks Morrisey won
215: dunno See Denmoms results
275: I imagine Crosset won and denmom said so
Rumor time- someone from howell told me Wolfrum was out with staph on his face supposedly he was there earlier and thats how they found out but i didnt see him
I talked to one person who said he had heard Benenati quit and another who said he was dealing with an injury...funny thing is both were reliable sources even though neither are affiliated with FZW

275: I imagine Crosset won and denmom said so
19,. what do I have wrong - I show Morrissey pinned Beard in the 3rd matter fact with 7 seconds left (7.2 to be exact)
Also there are two Crossets. at 215 I show B J Crossett as a 11th grader. came into the tournament 0 - 1. Then I show Nathan Crossett whom is a 12th grader and came into the tournament 19 - 2.
Also, Justin Wolfrum was there almost the whole day if not the whole day. (I didn't get there until 11:30) And when I left, I ran into him in the parking lot and we had a conversation. He didn't wrestle but I didn't care where he had staf or if he had it. Just wanted to be sure he would be at the St. Charles West Tournament with the rest of FZW for some really good awesome wrestling.
And last of all - I stayed till the end. That is obvious since I said he won regarding teams.

125: Rodgers wrestled great against Bolin no fluke points at all he battled the whole match and lost when bolin tilted him with under 20 secs left Bolin might have to watch out for him at state!
Ok, my comment. with 12 seconds left, a second stalling is called against bolin to tie the match. OK, so tell me how Bolin is on bottom, Rogers has his leg tied up and his arm pulled between Bolin's own legs and he is called for stalling. The only thing I thought he could move was his head back and forth. Wasn't quite sure about that call. But anyway, They both wrestled great and the best wrestler won. Remember, I am not from either school and don't really know either one.
wrestlefan19
01-07-2006, 10:53 PM
actually the stalling call was when Bolin was on top and the official rule is that you are not allowed to have the ankle for more than 5 secs and Bolin had Rodgers ankle hooked with his leg....I do not know if this was accidental or intentional
and I said someone had the results wrong because the other guy has beard as #1 I was telling ppl to refer to your results for 215 and 275 because i assumed they were correct and i was not there for the results
I wasnt really looking for wolfrum so i didnt see him

I was sitting matside for the match right in between some of the Central coaches and they seemed to think that Tracy had a tough match. It was 4-2 in favor of Tracy with about 30 seconds left then Locke took a shot and Tracy got a takedown. Up until that point Tracy-I feel-was not that dominate in the match.

Stalling was good at Hazelwood Central, kids were able to ride without the refs awarding other people points and forcing takedown matches. Too bad the GAC had the stalling call problem. Were the Rallo's reffing?
howellfan
01-08-2006, 09:39 AM
There were two Rallos reffing, but other than that one match I thought the stalling calls were not excessive. I think that was the only match that was decided by stalling, and maybe one of the three or four matches all day where there was penalty points awarded for stalling.
