Thanks Bob for listing the wrestlers. Certainly an outstanding lineup, not even counting any up and comers or freshman. It looks like the potential showdowns at 112 and 135 should make for a great event.

Well thanks for noticing! I'll do what I can in between coaching and watching. Not sure if I will be working the tournament or not so we'll see. And Friday night I'll try and find someone to get me results since I will be at the Keith Urban concert; if possible, I will try and post results throughout Saturday. It's a shame you won't be there to witness a great tournament.

Just under three weeks until the Patriot Classic. There will be 32 wrestlers ranked in the top 10 of Class 4 participating in the tournament. Notable weights would be 119 where 3 of the top 5 ranked wrestlers will be there. Also at 125, 5 of the top ten will be wrestling. Notable possible matches would be: Garcia vs Bolin at 119; Benenati vs Hachtel at 112; Gagliano vs Schumacher at 130; Wiest vs Pepper at 140; Wolfrum vs Gant at 145; and Vilda vs Sills at 215. Great wrestling action just days away!!!

The first two rounds are complete and here are the team scores going into tomorrow:
Seckman 74
Jackson 72
Ft. Zumwalt West 70
Parkway South 67.5
Lindbergh 66
Lafayette 50.5
Lee's Summit 53
Vianney 48.5
Francis Howell North 46
Rock Bridge 44
CBC 34.5
SLUH 24

Parkway South was helped by three wrestlers losing in matches which they won by surprise Pins.

Maybe the biggest surprise, Ashley Hudson lost her first match to Tim Irving from Lindbergh but won her second match against Dan Zonca from Vianney.

A fire alarm stopped the action for 30 minutes but other than that, some great matches and lots of actions.

Wrestling begins again at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.

Actually I was kind of expecting Ashley to struggle at 112. It's a lot differant than 103. I can't wait to see her back at 103 where IMO she has a strong shot at medaling.

Another Great Patriot Classic. The results have been submitted and hopefully will be posted shortly on the Missouri Wrestling website. Fort Zumwalt West won for the second year in a row with Jackson fininshing 2nd and Seckman 3rd. Great wrestling with plenty of close matches. I hope we will hear thoughts from those who attended. Check this site for the results.

Anyone got anything to add? How was this event? What were some exciting matches? What were some upsets? Who are some wrestlers that are relatively unknown that showed they will be a big name this season?

patriot

The only match I would comment on is one that didn't take place. Kamden Rampley vs Wes Vilda is a classic waiting to happen. But maybe they will not see each other until Columbia. Katie bar the Door and keep the small children away, it'll be a war and a great match!!

Banning was leading during the second period of the 103 finals against a one move wonder from Lindbergh and got thrown. For all that he has been through, I would have loved to see him on the top of the podium. He is one tough hombre and I am sure we will hear more about him throughout the season.

As a fan of both Banning & Summers, I think it's a little demeaning to call Brock a 'one move wonder'. Over the last 3 seasons Summers has paid his dues, and as an experienced kids' wrestler, Ryan should not get caught by anyone with just 'one move'. Hopefully we'll hear good things from both of these wrestlers throughout the season.

That said, I would caution Brock to be ready the next time they wrestle, because I've seen what happens often when Ryan gets a second shot at someone he lost to previously like that.

VanVelkinburgh was attacking with his Penn series throughout the match...Garcia countered well and at one point almost scored with a nice lil step over (from Van's penn to merkle position). As good as Garcia is on top, I was just as impressed with vans riding, until of course he was caught by a slick little Peterson roll costing him the match.

Joe Wolfrum and Reid had a pretty good finals match. Joe was definitely edged out by experience,4-1. Not bad for a freshman though. Reid is very skilled and is hard to score on.
