I hear St. Louis was down to 160, but wrestled Ozark at 171. Simpson beat St. Louis 7-3. My parents said it was a good match, but I know dropping and then wrestling up hurts. Giving up weight and the extra energy it takes to drop. But Cody has been weighing in light all year, he will see Heidlage this weekend at Branson.

Winckel from North County is undefeated this year at 189 and he made the drop to 171. Should be great to see him in the mix . Best to luck to him. Mr. Winckel could you post some stuff on how him and the North County boys did after the Branson Tourney. Thanks.

If Winckel drops to 171 this weekend, he could face 2x state champion Joe Yust of Seneca at the Branson Tournament.

OK this weekend - sumner beats White by a substancial amount, then white beats Sumner with a close match 8-6.
Does Jon go up, does derrick go down, should Tommy St. Louis go to first or has St. Louis beat white this year? And there Thomas is, stuck in the middle of them. I sure saw White and Sumner as very equal today. I missed yesterday's match but today I felt that if they wrestled ten times, each would have 5 wins. Of course, I don't mean anything. Just jabbering

My opinion which really doesn't matter to any of you is that Jon Sumner was ready to wrestle Derrick on Friday night and handled him with ease and Derrick took the loss and capitalized on it by mentally and physically preparing himself to wrestle today and he prefailed. Both of those young men are excellant wrestlers and the match on both days could have went anyway.

Brady,
130lbs Tyler St. Louis 2-1 over Cody Compton in the finals.
171lbs Joe Yust 8-7 over Jason Winckel in the finals.
Dugger took 5th. I believe Dugger had 6 ranked wrestlers in his bracket at 145lbs. Snead places 6th. He had a nice win over P.C'S 215lber. Wish you were still at N.C.............

Same with Winckel to keep it real interesting with Yust

Cody Compton is a freshman and I think that was his first loss of the year.

Yust beat Simpson 3-0, and Simpson beat Heidlage 6-1 and the one point was a P.D. point. Simpson did not wrestle Winckel, both had great showings against Yust though.
As far as St. Louis going to first in the rankings, Simpson beat him this past Tuesday 7-3. With Winckel being undefeated and coming in second at Branson over Simpson and Heidlage both ranked wrestlers, I would put him in first. Then White, Sumner, Simpson or Thomas. St. Louis dropped to 160 for the Monette tournament and will probably stay there.
That of course is my thought on what I see at this time.

a point is not awarded on a P.D call
you must mean he scored on an illegal move

So do I Bruce, tell Jason and Cody that i will be watching for them at districts and state. Good Luck to them.
Wrestlefan19 by your comment about keeping it real close my guess is that you don't know Cody Compton. He is a national wrestler just like Tyler and I can tell you he won't be satisfied by keeping it real close. Cody is quite capable of beating just about anyone in Missouri at that weight. As I have said before this freshman class is very deep in the lower weights and has been winning at national tournaments for years. I believe there will be a lot of two and three time state champions that come from this group.

I did not mean to say he should be satisfied just noting that even keeping a match that close against a stud like st. Louis is impressive to me especially considered that Compton was somewhat under the radar as a freshman because the class is so deep, most of the attention went to Bradley, Wisdom, Your boys, mac B and co that Compton didnt get much "publicity" I had heard people rave about him in person but I had somewhat forgot about him, and apparently underestimated him
Now i will deffinetely keep an eye on him AND Winckel!
I have almost posted about Cody on more than a few occasions, however I didn't because sometimes being under the radar can be a good place to be. Cody in LL was just as good as any of the freshman you just named. Because he came into high school at a little higher weight and North County hasn't been any of the high profile tournaments, he hasn't been talked about like the others.
I just noticed the "and Winckel" part of your comment. Jason is an outstanding wrestler. It is funny you bring him up today because I was just talking very favorably about him to Jon and Tom Sumner yesterday at SCW.

There is not a nickles difference between White, Sumner and Winckel. Should be fun to watch how this plays out.

Will Novak stay down at 171 if St. Louis stays at 160?
