I just copied this from the Post-Dispatch. Evidently Oak Grove had a great tournament in St. Louis.

In true holiday spirit, the Spartan Wrestling Tournament at DeSmet provided a little to celebrate for nearly every team in the field.

Oak Grove, a small-school outstate power, won the 16-team event late Wednesday, scoring 496 1/2 points to beat runner-up Lafayette (425). But nine of the 16 teams in the tourney came away with at least one individual champion.

Oak Grove, the Missouri Class 2 runner-up last year after winning Class 1 titles in 2003 and 2004, got championship efforts from Jace Gaston (19-1) at 130 and from heavyweight Mike Williams (19-2). The Panthers also had two wrestlers come in second, two third and one fourth.

Hazelwood Central had three individual champions, while DeSmet and CBC matched Oak Grove with two champions a piece.

Wendell Jones (15-1) at 112, Ryan Johnson (15-1) at 135 and Rico Williams (16-0) at 160 were the Hazelwood Central champions.

At 171, in a battle of unbeatens, DeSmet's Sean Dietz (19-0) came away with a 10-6 win over Lafayette's Josh Moore (21-1). The host school's other champion was Tim Ziegler (17-2), at 119.

CBC's champions included freshman Ryan Banning (21-2) at 103 and two-time state finalist Wes Vilda (17-0) at 215.

Lafayette's lone champion was 189-pound sophomore Matt Brewer (22-1). The Lancers had two wrestlers finish second and four place third.

Other champions were Parkway North's Cody Farinella (15-0) at 125, Seckman's Jimmy Pepper (24-0) at 140, Pattonville's Brian Patrick (16-4) at 145 and Vianney's Andy Bader (19-3) at 152.
