Falcon wrestler-
Taking a look at your bracket results, The head to head comes first, then tournament points. You both have the same records, and you decisioned a kid that Sullivan pinned. Most importantly, you beat Sullivan 9-7, so you should be third, and Sullivan gets fourth. Give Mr. Tomasi a call about your third place medal or pm me with your address so we can mail the medal to you. CONGRATS.
MM
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Perhaps the most interesting weight class of the day.
2 pools of 3 wrestlers
top pool wrestlers faced each other for medals
The top wrestlers in each pool wrestling for the championship were BOTH disqualified by the official, so both could not medal.
the original 3rd / 4th place match was now for 1st and 2nd.
Good wrestling all around I thought.

I'm not exactly sure, but the official made it clear they were both DQ'ed.

Obviously, you're so overwrought that you don't mind making ethnic slurs. Perhaps therapy would help? Or a Midol?

It's a term used to indicate you were cheated somehow, but it's not a nice way to say it. It's an ethnic slur against 'gypsies', otherwise known as 'Rom' or 'Roma'. Sort of on par with saying you were 'jewed' out of something. Where are your parents, child, that you don't know these things?!

I just learned me two things today.
1. I never made the connection of the term "getting gyped" to the fact that it was referring to Gypsies.
2. I didn't realize that Gypsy was an actual ethnic group. I had always thought the word "gypsy" was basically a synonym for "nomad".
I just looked it up on a couple of different dictionaries. The word "gypsy" has two meanings: 1. ethnic slur against the Roma people and 2. general reference to those who live a nomadic lifestyle.
The word "gyp" is an actual non-offensive verb in the English language. I looked up "jew" and found that dictionary.com is quick to point out that the word "jew" is often used as a highly offensive term. No such notation was given for the word "gyp" but it did indicate that it is likely taken from the word "Gypsy".
Based on the use of the word "gyp", my guess is that most people use the meaning for the general term referring to "nomads"........you know, the whole "gypsies, tramps and thieves" inferences as pointed out by Cher.
I have no idea whether or not it should be considered an offensive term but I'm pretty sure that 99.999% of the people here in the U.S. use that term without any mal-intentions, and likely without even the knowledge of where the word comes from - kind of like the "eenie meenie minie moe" thing that was discussed last year.

The word Gypsy comes from Gippie which was a roman slur of Egyptians. Whne the Gypsys first came on the seen in europe, the eastern romans /byzantines and slavs thought they came from egypt based on their apperance dress and traditions, hence they were called Gypsies ( A bastardized form of the latin slur Gippie)
See RP that is why Helias is the best school in the state, we took latin (at least when I was there), and solid history courses I may have conceded the wrestling title to OP but not the academic  :-D :P
