Nov. 1, 2005 – The Truman wrestling team had four place winners at the Lindenwood Open over the weekend, which was the squad’s first competition of the season. Steve Doeschot and Adam Vogt each finished in second in their respective weight classes, while Dave Sielert and Loyde Braidlow each had sixth place finishes.

Doeschot, a sophomore at 197 pounds, won three straight matches to begin the open before falling in the bracket championship match to Max Askern by an 18-8 score. A junior transfer, Vogt won his first two matches in a Bulldog singlet by major decision and advanced to the title bout at 141 pounds before dropping a 10-4 decision.

After dropping his first match of the day in the 133 bracket, Sielert bounced back to win his next three matches all by pinfall. He was then pinned in the wrestleback semi-finals and fell in the fifth place match to Ryan Moyer of Lindenwood by technical fall.

Braidlow had one of the busiest days for the Bulldogs. The freshman went 5-3 in the 285 pound weight class winning three matches by pinfall. Braidlow lost his fifth place match to Jody Philpot of Missouri Baptist by fall at the 5:44 mark.

The Bulldogs next competition will be next Monday night when they host Central College (Iowa) in Pershing Arena in the first dual match of the season. Matches will get underway at 7:30 p.m. and are free to the general public

Bulldog Wrestling Impressive In Home Dual
Nov. 7, 2005 – The Truman wrestling team opened up their dual schedule on Monday night with an impressive 40-12 win over Central College (Iowa) in Pershing Arena.

Truman got things started quickly at 125, when senior Allen Stokes scored a pinfall over Gary Zima of the Dutch at the 2:34 mark. Dan Keller carried over the momentum with a technical fall decision over Nate Forsythe at the 6:19 mark.

After Chad Swagman was defeated at 149, the Bulldogs top returnee from last season, Dustin Teeman came out strong at 157, scoring 19 points and winning by technical fall at 6:19. Teeman was an all-American last season finishing sixth at the national tournament.

Senior Gregg Nurrenbern made his return to the mat after a year long rehab from injury and came out strong. Nurrenburn pinned Ross Patton at the 2:19 mark for his first win of the season.

Truman will next be in action on Sunday at the Central Missouri State Open. The next home dual will be Dec. 10 when Truman faces Simpson College and an exhibition dual with the Northwest Missouri Wrestling Club at 3:00 p.m.
