I have had my eye on this team this year, they are looking very stacked from 119 all the way through 189!! There are 2 returning state qualifiers returning to wrestle this year 119-James Barker who is a senior, and Drew Harwood, he is a junior! The team is looking Great this year!

Blair Oaks is a much improved program from where they were in previous years.
2006 results:
10. Adrian 56.00: 6,1,4,5 with some point scorers
11. Maysville 54.5: 5,8,6,1,6
12. Richmond 49.50: 3,5,6,5,8 with some point scorers
13. Lawson 48.00: 8,6,2 with a point scorer
14. North Platte 43.00: 1,6, with a point scorer
15. Whitfield 40.00: 3,5,8,3, with some point scorers
16. Gallatin 33.50: 8,8,2,
17. Sherwood 33.00: 2,4
18. Lutheran 32.00: 8,4,4,8,
19. Maryville 30.00: 3,5,4
20. South Holt 27.00: 2

There's an idea of what it typically takes to crack the Top 20. I would like to see Blair Oaks in the thick of things. They have taken a step in the right direction to be in position for the Top 20.

Uh, I am going out on a limb and predicting they will be in the top 10. They are very solid from 119-152. It is my understanding that they have a couple of others who will be in the line up as well but are not now due to eligibility or verification issues, although I do not know what weights. And with their district, they will probably qualify most of them.

It is great to see different teams stepping up. I hope they do very well. Even more, I hope that at the State Tournament their fans don't get confused and start yelling "H-E-L-I-A-S!!"

Are you trying to say they have some transfers from Helias???

Maybe Helias is having trouble retaining their recruits. I don't know but Blair Oaks seems to be very solid. Or maybe the school is really as good as I've heard. They won football again, Baseball last spring. The Girls were second in Cross Country and in Basketball last winter. And if I'm not mistaken they have not lost yet this year. I traveled to a football game there in September and that field was like a professional stadium. I wish our school had 3000 fans at a game. I say keep it up Blair Oaks and good luck.

Just my opinion

yes, I think 3 but I have also heard as many as five, but who knows. Regardless of how many, it is tough to measure the impact of adding talented, experienced wrestlers into the practice room. Looking at results, it appears that the kids who were there last year are really producing as well.

More power to them and I hope they continue to improve. As I have stated before, I am all for new teams and fresh faces making a splash. And if Helias has lost a number of kids, that's too bad. I won't feel bad about a private school having things go against them.

Again, so what if parents or the wrestlers themselves decide to go to a PUBLIC school. Yes, the impact of kids going to Blair Oaks instead of Helias has made a difference in wrestling and football. But, those choices were theirs to make, even JC PUBLIC schools are receiving athletes that in years past, would have wrestled for Helias. FACT: JC and Blair Oaks could have individual State Champions that in the past would have went to Helias. Good Luck Blair Oaks!

....no one said anything negative about it
We were just commenting on the fact that they got a bunch of new kids...

Let 'em all go there. It is the "in thing to do" in that area these days. Some of us have our own minds and are not followers.

I agree Woodcutter! Helias is definitely down but not because of the "so-called" transfers. I believe the term "good riddance" has been heard by more than a few!

  I noticed a team point was deducted for a [-X thrown headgear in their dual with Centralia...maybe the impact goes beyond quality wrestling :smt017

There are 3 ex Helias wrestlers at Blair Oaks. they had all quit wrestling at Helias.
Facts:
They could all make the Helias Varsity.
None of them have been in any trouble.
The team point was not any of them.

I for one am glad to see Helias is stuggling to keep their ship afloat. For far to long the big feeling arrogancce of that school has made me sick and is finally catching up to them. The way I see it, it appears that some of the good wrestlers have decided to go elsewhere, and I am sure for good reason. And as of late, I noticed there kids club has significantly lost numbers too. Those outdated pin stripes have lost all their importance and their ugly. So if you want to be a better wrestling team. Quit crying over things you can't control, start working through the summer, hit the weights and learn to wrestle on the mat again. Because the matches that have have seen have been poor at best. Unless you think beating Mexico was some great feat. On the other hand keep relying on the intimidation factor of those 1974 singlets and I'm sure you might finish 28th or so come February. Good luck Blair Oaks and congradulations on all the success that has come your way.

Go Jays!

The older Clark boy also with Baumher and Markway came from Helias. The younger Clark boy is a frosh. Plus they have 3 football players wrestling for the first time this year with Shikles (jr) Henke (jr) and Alexanders (soph). I think Shikles wrestled some before and don't know about Henke but I know the Alexanders kid never wrestled in any way before December 2006. Id bet money that the 3 of them will be state qualifiers in the next year or so not to mention the other talent BOaks has. Singer, Nicolaescu, the Clarks, Markway, Baumher. Barker. I think BOaks only had wrestling for 5 years now. Pretty good progress. I saw BO wrestle Centralia and the place was packed. Great fan base. [

Everyone loves a winner. Bunch of bandwagon jumpers! I suppose beating the likes of the Warsaw's and Tipton's of the world is some majestic feat. Kick Helias while their down. Who cares?

Why the bittenerness woodcutter? The success of BOaks other programs should (football baseball basketball etc) shows the success is not due to 3 kids from Helias but the quality of the kids athletes parents teachers and coaches at BOaks. Move on.

Woodcutter........please dont forget BO's big victory over Versailles! Look at the Class 1 rankings................just one more reason the 4 classes is a huge mistake! What do you think some of the transfers records would be if they were wrestling Class 3 or even Class 2?

hey class3fan- you are obviously a helias supporter and is still bitter about the transfers students moving to blair oaks. so you deciede to cut down thier whole program not just those transfers inparticular. I believe blair oaks are the ones moving in the right direction noone can help it that helias isn't. i have saw all of the transfers wrestle and to me it looks like all of them can hold there own anywhere! class 1,2,3,4. please keep the negative comments to a minimum. :D

Speakerman.......let me back up my statement with facts......without naming names one of your heralded transfers was approximately 1-15 last year before he quit with a "career-ending" injury. I guess he would have been 1-15 wrestling the Tiptons, Versailles, and Fatimas of the world?

I am sorry to see such bitter feelings toward my kid Kyle Clark. I have know idea what he has done for you to be so mad. He obviously has done nothing to deserve such treatment. All I can say is that Helias High School was a big part of my kids life and many of those wrestlers on that team I consider good friends and part of my family. I hope that Helias returns to the greatness that we all expect from that school and kids like Josh Predmore, Patrick Beffa, Luke Rose, Andrew Crocker, Thomas Ledbetter deserve all the success that should come their way. Kyle's record was 1-6 last year if you really want to know. And is injury occurred in 2005 during his freshman year. All I can say is that he does miss Helias and still considers all those boys close friends. [size=9]G[/size

Well said. I will have nothing else to say on this subject. Good luck to Jeff City, Blair Oaks and Helias. We are lucky to have a bunch of great wrestlers in our extended community. Imagine if they were all lumped together on one team. WOW!
