Im sorry no offnese to these Odessa wrestlers but i was just basing it on some of the results i have viewed. I know these kids are good wrestlers but really we cant say theyll all be in the finals until they all wrestle. So best of luck to all these wrestlers.

I did not take offense. It was your opinion that some made it to the finals. I just thought there was a likelyhood based on your matchups that Odessa would have a winner. Maybe not. I'll check the results Sat night.

Do we have any other results from the tournament. I heard That Bradley Wisdom pinned Clemmons in the final in the second period. Also that Joe Newland was defeated by Colin Pierce (SP) at 112 and that Craig Wilson won the 119.

Would love to hear about the rest of the tournament.

Simpson from Ozark got 4th, he lost to Bowman from Blue Springs 9-6 and then Carthage, I don't know if it was Blant or Heiledge, 10-4. He pinned out all of his other matches but one.

leader1,
Pierce and Newland was a very good match with a exciting ending. Can't remember exactly when all scoring happened. Was scouting another match at same time. Newland scored TD in first period. I believed a reversal in the second. I think Newland cut him in the third Pierce scored a quick TD and was looking to cut him and it looked like Newland was reaching back. Pierce caght him with the leg and a power half and was able to hold him for about a minute and a half. Newland looked like he was about to get of his back a couple of times ,but Pierce held tight for the win. Pierce 6-4.

I got to see Deron Winn for the first time at Raytown. Wow is all I can say. Unless you saw it, you have no idea how he dominated his opponents. All in all, the wrestling was outstanding. It would have been nice to have had updated team scores, but the actual wrestling itself is the main thing and that was very good.

Mr. Collins, I talked to Cody on the phone, he said he should have beat him, but just couldn't get it going. But the score shows that Heidlage was in control the whole the time and is a great wrestler. It was a good tournament. My dad said that Cody had a great match against Bowman, and then got a forfeit and then a injury default. So he was pretty cold on the last match. But from what I've heard there was alot of great wrestling and it was great tournament.

sampson 101, have you ever met a wrestler yet who didn't think he should have won? It looks like the score was pretty one sided. Better luck next time.

Sampson101 Trev and I are both pulling for Cody. That score caught me little off guard .I'm sure Cody will have better match with Hedileage next time .Staying that close to Bowman 9-6 must of emptied Codys tank, Bowman is one tuff wrestler. Then a 10- 4 lose to Hedilage it just dosn't figure. I guess Hedilage was the better wrestler on that day.

sampson101
12-18-2005, 09:21 PM
Mr. Bob is that a real question? I've wrestled plenty of matches I thought I should have lost and won. I said that the score showed Heidlage won and handily. Sometimes you just have off matches, and don't get going. No wrestler will tell you they could have won every match or thought they could. But there are matches you should have won and didn't, perfect example is the Kyle match.

I thought the 215 final had a wrestler from SCW and that the FH kid pinned for 1st place at heavyweight, not just a decision. Could be wrong though -- it was late, and the smell of that gym after two full days was making me light headed :?

Sampson - I saw Austin Heidlage at the Springfield tournament last year. He was at 152 - so you know what that means. Yes - he has skills but at which point did he become a "great wrestler?" 8)

Anyone who is ranked in the State is a great wrestler. You would not be ranked other wise. As a freshman you do not have the experience and grounding of a seasoned wrestler. You can be a great wrestler as a freshman but you will only get better the older you get. Now I'm not saying that he was an outstanding freshman but you can tell he has worked hard and deserves his ranking on the board. The next match should be outstanding with two great wrestlers at 171. With that said I hope Anson is doing well and having a good year.
