WHEN WILL THE SW HAVE THEIR OWN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS?
OzCoach

Not a single one of those 8 wrestlers placed. Until Ozark is able to put a few wrestlers on the medal stand, they are chasing the pack. Instead, Nixa with a returning champion and a runner-up along with a healthy Beau Pickering and a slew of solid wrestlers should be considered at the top along with Neosho with a stable of good wrestlers. Also don't be surprised with what Branson will do. Stephens, Johnston, Robbins and Hairston as well as a few others will all have good seasons. Plus we all know that Carthage with the addition of Espinosa to an already good staff will just get better. Wrestling in southwest Missouri class 3 should be fun this year. But trust me, every program listed is more concerned about performing well ouside of this area. Good luck to you all.
Hey, Coach Jackson, I want to know a little more about your new coach. As for my helping out much, Kenny is a charitable person who decided the old horse wasn't quite yet ready for the pasture. In my mind, your Tigers, the Pirates, and good ole Nixa are at the top. As you say, SWMO will be quite interesting this year.

Along with Mark Cabellero from last year, we have added two coaches. I feel extremely lucky to have Andrew Lokie in the room. He wrestled in college at Ohio University in Athens Ohio and was a NCAA qualifier back in the early 80's. Also Brandon York from the University of Maryland is helping out. Brandon was a four-time ACC conference champion and therefore a multiple NCAA qualifier. He set a record for most career wins while at Maryland. The best part of it all is that he never told me any of this. I found it out when looking at the Maryland Wrestling web site. Brandon is working on his Masters in Christian Counseling at BBC in Springfield, while Andie teaches at MSU. When I introduced these two to our squad I told our wrestlers that all three of us have been to the NCAA's. Me as a spectator and these two as competitors. I feel my job this year is to make sure the bus has gas and let these guys do their thing in the room. Seriously, I'm lucky to have two good guys like this in the room. Espo, when Coach Elliot sent me the newspaper clipping about Carthage's new coaching staff, I knew I had to take drastic action. See you soon.
HAAAAA! Coach, you are still the master of propaganda. I'd pay money to sit in on your lectures of motivation tactics and fact distortion. Thanks for the update--I look forward to seeing you, Cabbie and your two newest additions throughout the season.

Looking through results I only found two wrestlers from Springfield and they are both from Kickapoo. Trent Freeman will be a sophmore at Kickapoo and Willy Ressel will be a junior at Kickapoo. Trent was injured and defaulted at state and Willy lost both his matches by decision.

By the way yoyo, Willy Ressel did not lose both times at state last year by decision. I only know this because my son pinned him in the first round. Just FYI.

Sorry KlHill I guess I looked at them wrong. Hey Buckley what happened to Sands Springs and the other schools that used to compete in the holiday tournament? Are they trying to make it just a large semi local meet? Just curious but im sure I'll make it up to watch. Thanks for the update.

I am not sure about the teams I don't have anything to do with the invites. It would be great for our area to get some teams from around the state to come but it is hard with all the other tournaments around the same time. It is always a good tournament with good matches, I think this year will be the same. Sorry I don't have the answer.

Just looking for the Starting Lineups for teams in SW MO. for the start of the year. Knowing that changes will take place and individuals will move as the season goes on.
Did not know if I would have to wait to see the results here or read them in the Joplin Globe or the Springfield News Leader and other papers.
Several teams should have tough lineups this year with wrestlers that return and what weight class they have grown into.
Several schools will return several SM (State Medalist) and SQ (State Qualifiers)

Very anticipated duel between NIXA and CARTHAGE tonight, NIXA has never beaten CARTHAGE in a duel if Im correct. Looking at the line ups it looks like both teams are returning 11 starters. Both programs are good examples on the forward steps SW MO. teams are taking. GO EAGLES !!!!

I don't know about Nixa but for Carthage of those that wrestled on Tuesday only 7 are returning Varsity wrestlers from last year. Several Freshmen are in the starting lineup and several who have not wrestled varsity at all. There are several state qualifers for both teams which always is exciting for the fans to gauge how the kids match up compared to last year.

Little r didnt fair to well. The loss wasent important us we wanted Chad for he may be the best wrestler r has faced to date. Im not sure he will be at 52 all year but if he is dont be suprised of a much better showing next time. For the rest of our Eagles most wrestled well, the couple who were expected to better, well, THATS why we wrestle for j. carter he will getem jump started. Thanks for asking, ?

The line up for Carthage was different on Thursday than it was on Tuesday. They are like many teams early on, their lineup still is not set. I was trying to make the point that they did not have 11 back from last year. I believe after seeing the results they had 3 freshmen wrestle not 2. Sorry to bother you who needs to know with the facts.
who needs to know
12-02-2005, 07:31 PM
Not bothering me I think its cool to read a post anytime someone has something good to say. Nixa closed the gap this year on the head to head, one match either way but still has a way to go. Im not sure if that was Nixas final line up either but I saw no real advantage either way. Alot of negitivity on Missouri. com makes most posters paranoid to post there opions or thouhgts, who needs to know,, who cares,, its all good,, wrestle on. :D p.s. the kid from Nixa on jv. holly cow he just literally for the lack of better words squashed his opponent, around 140

Coach Jackson (and staff) has put togather a very good team (young as well) that will return several qualifiers and medalist.
Other teams (Carthage and Nixa) also continue to improve and work their way towards being in the top 10 for class 3.
Other teams have lost a little of their edge..
With the new numbers for next year the District could change quite a bit.
MSHSAA Season is over and now the REAL work (to build champions)begins.
