How do you think William Penn University is going to do this year. The Statesmen were 11-0 in duals in 2004-2005, extending their win streak to 49, dating back to 2001. Penn has never lost since joining the NAIA in 2001-2002. Twelve Statesmen wrestlers competed at the NAIA National Tournament with the team finishing seventh with 77 points.

my mistake, the win streak has ended with 54 wins. They had a loss at the Purdue duals.

Look at who they have wrestled though for this undefeated dual streak? They just lost 3 in a row!! how do you wrestle 54 duals and win them all and then loose 3 in a row like that?? look at the schools they wrestled--York college(new naia School), Newman Univ(new School) Briar Cliff(pretty sure oak park could beat them) Northwestern(not very good), Waldorf(there okay) i mean most of these teams are not even in the top 20 for NAIA they may have a few kids such as brad stockton from Waldorf he was runner up to Paul Collum Moval, but they just didnt wrestler anyone that was worth the undefeated dual streak!! i mean my hat is off to coach Garvis to what he has accomplished but if it was really worth alot he would have wrestled the top teams in the nation and not these schools. why not wrestle Missouri Valley, Dana, Cumberland, Montana State Northern??? or other top naia schools!!! i mean look at these schools schedules they wrestle the best of the best from div 1 to naia or div 2 or 3! they go to vegas CMSU, and UNO where does wpu go? im sorry if i bashed your school WPU but come on if you want it to be worth anything then go wrestle the best schools!!!!!!

Regardless of their scheduling a 54-win streak is still pretty impressive.

not when you wrestle the worst teams you can find, come on good school are only with in 4 to 5 hours from them go out and find competition! look at how they finish at nationals if they are so great why cant they seem to break the top 5 in the national tournament?

Since you are bashing William Penn, can you think of any other team that has had a win streak of 54?

it doesnt matter if there was another team with a 54 win dual streak!!! if it was worth something they would have wrestled teams that could have filled a full squad much less some tough teams!!! trust me i know alot about this program i have friends that wrestle for that program, and they even said that the dual streak is a joke!! and they finally wrestle tough teams and they go 0-3 they use to beat indy badly and now they have a loss?

I have a brother and a friend that wrestles for them and they told me that the only thing that was talked about up in Oskaloosa was the wrestling team. They told me that the wrestling duels attracted more fans than any other sport that the college has.......even football. Who ever told you that the winning streak was a joke has his own opinion but the other wrestlers think otherwise.

Are you kidding me? all the sports at william penn are not very good!! the baseball team is good they went to the world series!! but the wrestling team? there good but i have been to a dual and its in a tiny gym and of crouse its going to look like there are alot of fans in a tiny gym with 4 rows of bleachers!!! They have a great talent of kids but they have 1 coach who needs assts in order to make his program better!!! but come on a 54 win dual streak look at missouri valleys, dana, embryriddle, montana state northerns schdedule they wrestle the best of the best, vegas, cmsu open, and they dual the best in NAIA and some of the finest teams in Div1!!

William Penn just joined the NAIA in 2001, I don't think they can win a national championship that quickly. They had 12 wrestlers at the national tournament and placed 7th as a team, also they had 5 All-Americans, matching the single season record. Darren Cotton placed 2nd at 149, Abel Trujillo was fifth at 174 pounds, Billy Exline posted a sixt place finish at 125. Seniors Kendall Horrocks and Ryan Guffey were both seventh, at 125 and 174 pounds, respectively.
Horrocks earned his second-consecutive Daktronics-NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete honor in 2004-2005.
By the way, in your last post you said that William Penn Wrestling does well, along with their baseball team.

yes they did take 7th but they are very talented, (not bashing there coach he has done a great job!), darren cotton and abel should have won natls by now they are very talented! im sorry for bashing william penn but i guess what iam trying to get across is that there dual streak was not that great they should have wrestled tougher teams and not padded there schedule, they wrestled briar cliff, waldorf, newman, and york on a regular basis along with some teams from wisconsin that couldnt even have a full team!! that should let you know that if your team is that talented you should wrestle more talented teams correct? and what i am also saying is yes they have done well and there is nothing to be disrespected for there time in naia since 2001. for other naia schools they go out and wrestle the best div 1 2 and 3 teams in the nation at tourneys and duals!! which after wrestling those guys they go to natls and do well. and yes i did say that they do well, and there baseball team does very well also, for the past 2 years they went to the naia world series!!
