Because today will be my last day posting here, I want to leave you all a gift. I'd like to share with all of you sources I frequently cite. No longer will you be able to rely on me to report shenanigans in government as they happen in real time, but you can use my sources because I'm going to share them with you. Print this page because when the season starts, this will be gone. Tack it up next to your computer & USE IT!
It's my job to know what's going on in government, and as a citizen, I'd like to feel that it's all of our jobs to watch our government. There are a plethora of good, reliable sources on the internet where you can see classified & recently declassified documents, secret government memos, etc.
None of these are "liberal conspiracies." These are your government at work. They say what they say, with no interpretation. You can either turn a blind eye to it & pretend that all is well in the kingdom, or you can become active in wrestling the grips of power away from the economic elite & returning it to the masses. I don't know where you'll come down, but as for me, I'm all about putting a wrench in the gears.
So, turn off the TV, smash your TiVo, ignore "Entertainment Tonight" and join our "army" of "ghosts in the machine" to make a difference in this grand experiment we call democracy.
For DECLARED listings of which corporations invested in which politician, go to http://www.opensecrets.org or http://www.publicintegrity.org.
For no-BS info on the war on terror, you can check out the National Security News Service at http://www.publicedcenter.org.
To stay on top of globalization issues, visit ww.servicesforall.org, http://www.cepr.net, or http://www.citizen.org/trade/.
Join a class-action lawsuit (this is always fun!). The law firm Cohen, Milstein, Hausfeld, and Toll post info on such suits on their site at http://www.cmht.com.
I personally enjoy reading CIA documents and National Security Archives. If you want unvarnished truth, go to http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/.
For other CIA documents you're not supposed to see, go to http://www.cryptome.org.
Quit your corporate bank and join a credit cooperative. Go to http://www.natfed.org to find the credit coop nearest you.
Reform the Help America Vote Act (a great euphemism if ever there were one) by signing the petition at http://www.workinforchange.org.
Know a secret? Tell it! Go to http://www.whistleblower.org.
Want proof that electronic voting is fraudulent? Visit Diebold's own documents at http://www.blackboxvoting.org.
A great movie about the Bush family, "Bush Family Fortunes," can be viewed online at http://www.indymedia.org.
I'll try to post more as it comes to me today. But these sites alone will make you a better informed citizen. If you don't stop shopping at enablers and voting for Republicans after diving into this with an open mind, then your mind truly is closed and I feel very sorry for you.
