Having seen this started in the NW/FHC topic. I thought that it would be interesting to see what others thought. Having seen quit a bit of wreslting early, here is my two cents.
The top three teams are pretty much above the others right now.
1) Zumwalt West: Solid lineup up and down. The thing is they would be tough to beat because they are going to get pins from at least 4 guys on any given night. More than that when Gags returns. They have no real holes either, which make it hard to make up points. You would have to get them at the top and hope you have not fallen too far behind by then. Not going to happen. Even their "average" guys can win the majority of matches.
2-3) Northwest and Howell Central: Very similar teams. I think either team could win this dual. Very similar teams with only a few holes each. Both teams can steamroll others as they can win a bunch of close matches. Should be a very interesting meet. Neither team will quit and will do whatever they can to make a point in a dual. At the same time I would not be suprised if the final score is not that close. The majority of matches may be close, but one team may win the majority of close matches.
4-8) The rest of these teams are behind the top three. They have very good, solid line-ups. Maybe just a too many holes to beat the top three.
Zumwalt North (Lopsided score vs FHC not indicative of team)
Fox (Lopsided scores vs northwest not indicative of team)
Eureka (May be better than any of these in a few weeks)
Seckman
Howell
Just my opinion, and like I said, the last 5 teams are not ranked in any order.

I know that Howell is a little weaker in the lower weights than in the upper weights. The guys can still go out there against most teams and compete.

Wow sound like we have some comp this year. It should be interesting to see how this year turns out. How do you think state will end up early but just a thought.

Eureka is going to have a strong tournament team with those Lesterboys killing everyone, and then you've got Sumner as well...

One team is Granite City, but they are in IL. They seem to qualify every year in the IL team state tournament.

Bader,
The Lester boys are both very accomplished and capable wrestlers. They will feel the pressure soon enough. You guys should be careful not to paint targets on these guys.

I think their exploits paint a large enough target on it's own. Nothing anyone says here will paint a larger target than seeing their victories posted everyday on the results page. A second period tech fall over Wendell Jones? Yeesh!

Bader,
Good point! I'm sure anyone who knows these boys aren't all that surprised.
It is not them who feel pressure it is their dad LOL. I wish I had their blood pressure. I appreciate the kind comments but one weekend does not a season make. I have a feeling they will find out what high school wrestling is all about this upcoming weekend when they have to face kids like Eric, Aaron Ely, Joe Green, Patrick Kennedy, Greg Benanati, Marty Uhlin (sp.) etc at Lee's Summit. Actually the freshman who impressed me at Lindbergh was Kyle Bradley. I also thought Patrick Kennedy looked good. I wish I could get to the Northwest-FHC dual tonight because I think it will be a very exciting dual to watch. I just wish that Eureka still wrestled Northwest in a dual because I would like to see the twins wrestle Vito and Herb, and plus I liked the atmosphere surrounding the Northwest-Eureka duals. Northwest has a great fan base built up.
One other thing I would like to add, and it is something I was saying this summer, is that this freshman class is very deep especially in the lower weights. These kids have been beating on each other for years and just kept making each other better (throw in a few of the current soph. wrestlers also). There are many national level kids in this class and to just place at state in little league was very tough. There are Trinity winners, Triple Crown winners, national champions, multi-time LL state champions and national placers, etc. This group contributed to both Missouri's number two national finish last year, and Missouri's number one Freestyle finish this past summer. I was thinking about listing the kids but I know I would forget some so I won't. Needless to say these kids are used to big matches and wrestle better the bigger the challenge. This group also has a great group of parents that really get along very well. I look forward to seeing what they will do this year and in the coming years both in the state and nationally.[/b]

I am pretty excited to be able to see all of these freshman in action this weekend. Its almost like waiting to see a great recruiting class for a college. I have heard so much about these guys, but since i didnt go to little league tourneys i have yet to see any of them wrestle, save for Meury and Wattercotte. Lee's Summit should be one heck of a tourney from 103-119

Greg,
It was nice to meet you at Lindbergh this last weekend and get to see Nick and Matt wrestle. As I said at the tournament, they wrestle as advertised, both of them are very, very good. It should be good experience for them at LS no matter what the outcome. Good luck!
We'll be heading to Cape Girardeau for the Classic this weekend.
It is was great to meet you. Good luck to your son at Cape. That is a pretty tough tournament.

those lester boys are good but it seems that that 112lb kid is where it's at because he took first at the Lee Sumit christmas tourment and the 119
lost 2 times and had to settle for third one of his loses was to Warner who is a 119 stud he took first at the tourment but i love the lester twins they are like 14 with no muscle tone whooping 18 yr old kids butts.
