Dear Diary,
Sigh. Another Sunday shot to hell. Bunch of potholes opened up on the block, so me & the neighbors had to fill 'em. Everyone's on my case because all I have is the cheap asphalt. "You're bringing the whole block down!" they say. "Pine Street is laughing at us!" We'll see how they'll like it when their boss funnels their pension into his fourth summer home.
After feeling like an idiot out there, I get to feel like an idiot in front of my kid, trying to help him with his homework. Ever since Coca-Pepsi Cola took over the middle-school, everyone's gotta know cola history backward & forward. What do I know about that? I thought everyone knew that in the 1800s the drink had a little cocaine in it, but he showed me in the textbook that that was some urban legend. See, I'm no help.
It looked like I'd finally get an hour to myself to watch some football, but then the power went out. Third time this year! At least the new Chinese power company that took over has been better than the British company. The Chinese take only 2 or 3 days to get things back up and running.
Before I knew it, it was time for my evening shift with the local militia to patrol the town borders. We're not going to let Lee's Summit swipe our coal stash again!
I was exhausted by the time I got home, but I thought I could at least have a romantic night with my wife. But I'm still having that. . .problem. She thinks it's a side-effect from my cholesterol pills, but I'm sure the drug maker would have mentioned on the label if something like that was possible.
It must be because I'm so tired all the time. If only the militia didn't have so many people on Marriage Sanctity Patrol, maybe they could do some stuff around the neighborhood and I could catch a break! Oh, that's just me talking crazy again. I better get some rest. There's a busted traffic light to fix during tomorrow's lunch break. . .
