Gray is a sophomore.
Burke is a Junior.
Rosenstangle is a sophomore.
I think Tanner Schaffer is a sophomore?

Kris Shuey wreslted 215 at the Missouri Duals.

Also, I know that RP had a couple of kids miss the MO duals due to the ACT test. My guess is that this line-up might change a bit - at 189/215 and 145/152 but I don't know for sure.

Ray-Pec wrestled Lees Summit West last night and won 45-20. The result are posted on the results dual page.

Some observations:

Forrest, Asa Shaffer, Huff, Tripaldi, and Burke all looked very good. I get the feeling that RP will be weak at 145/152. 171 Rosenstangle was sick and 215 Shuey is injured and therefore both were out of the line-up. Also, Molina was DQ'd for an illegal slam which was absolutely the right call - LSW's Reed was obviously in pain from the slam. Molina could have taken him back to the mat in control but didn't - it was apparent that he would have fully dominated Reed had the match continued. LSW was open at HWT and therefore Thompson didn't have a match.

The Burke-Jungeblut match was the most exciting. Burke got a takedown at the end of the first, 2-0. Burke started on bottom in the 2nd and earned an escape, 3-0. Burke shot on Jung and had a deep single leg but Jung made an excellent counter move and was able to put Burke on his back for 2 NF points, 4-3 Jungeblut. Jung started the 3rd on bottom and Burke cut him loose, 5-3 Jungeblut. Burke scored another takedown to make it 5-5. Burke cut him loose again to make it 6-5 Jungeblut. Burke scored another takedown with about 25 seconds left in the match to go up 7-6 and was able to ride him out for the win. The 8th point Burke received was for an illegal grabbing of the head gear by Jung while he was on bottom with about 10 seconds to go. This was the only match that the crowd was really into.

I hadn't heard of him until this year. He could be a freshman? Could have been J.V. last year behind Forrest or Shaffer? He looked pretty good last night but I don't know how good his competition was.

Raypec - LSW Update.

The illegal slam that DQ'd Molina in his Match with Reid on Tuesday may have ended the match for him, but it ended Jeremy's season.

Jeremy's pain was a broken clavicle.

LSWfan, I'm very sorry to hear that. Molina could have and should have taken him back to the mat with more control. Hopefully he got an ear-ful from the coaches the next day at practice.

RP-in-Neb,
I enjoyed your scoring-move-by-scoring-move description on the Burke-Jungeblut-match. Now that's some fine reporting! I'd like to see more of the same throughout the year, but I realize not everybody can pull-that-off. Maybe if-a-guy-uses-more-of-these-he-could-write-like-you? That Bob Pollock is pretty darn good too. Seriously, nice job and thanks.

Good job, Ray-Pec, at the Lee's Summit Tournament. 8th place isn't bad - especially with all things considered: (it's the toughest tournament in the state, varsity starters missing at 140, 171, 215, HWT)

Special Congratulations to Justin Forrest and Kendall Burke for first place finishes.

Questions to anybody with inside Ray-Pec information:

1. Is it true that Neumann didn't make weight at 140?
2. Why wasn't Rosenstangle (171) wrestling - was he still sick?
3. How long will Shuey (215) be out with his elbow injury?
4. Why wasn't Thompson (HWT) wrestling?

Scott Neumann got knocked out in a match on Friday and wasn't doing well. There was no way he was going to wrestle on Saturday so he didn't even attempt to weigh in. In fact he wasn't there all day on Saturday.

Rosenstengle had the flu and missed school Wed. and Thurs. We didn't want him wrestling in that tournament recovering from the flu, without having practice since Monday (Dual Tuesday night) and really only having about a week and half of practice since the long football season.

Shuey should be back the first of the year.

Thompson had a deep thigh bruise and couldn't practice all week either. He should be back real soon.

I heard that Kendall Burke has a broken finger and that's why he didn't wrestle in the Excelsior Springs tournament.

Does anyone know if he will he be able to wrestle at St. Charles West this weekend?

I read the results form the Rockhurst dual last night but there were no results at 125. Was there even a match at 125? If so, was shaffer back in the line-up?

No, Asa was not back in the line-up. Justin Bradshaw won 10-6 over their kid.

Is Asa recovering okay? I hope he'll be at 100% come districts.

He's coming along. He was able to get back on the mat yesterday and move around with no resistence. Meaning he did a lot of shadow drill. He will be ready next week to work out with partners.
