that lineup is just sick. my god. i had been thinking all along that their lineup should be excellent, but when it is down for you to see it is just amazing. i wish that they could attend a tournament like Beast or Reno so the rest of the country could see our best.

That could be close but also could be off of some. Should be a interesting year. The kids better be ready because we start off with some great events.

I've heard a rumor that Blue Springs is bailing out on the LSX tournament because Oak Park will be there. Can anyone confirm this? Hag?
Yes, it's because they already see OP enough and don't want to get their ass kicked anymore. That, or Hag is reff'in a college match somewhere.

Ouch. :smt117
I've said this before. OP would certainly turn some heads @ the Beast. The east coast mentality is that only THEY are great. Don't get me wrong, it is without a doubt the BEST HS wrestling that I have ever seen. However, solid wrestling is not exclusive to the east coast. Mo. wrestling has made a national name for themselves, and OP would fit right in at a tourney such as the Beast. just my humble opinion!

Oak Park is not in the LSN Tournament. We are going to Columbus, Ohio for the St Francis Desales Tournament. We are in the LS XMas Tournament.
I'm not sure if BS is in the LS Tournament or not but I highly doubt they dropped out because OP is in there. BS will be VERY tough this yr.

The only teams that I know for sure are: Massillon Perry, Desales, and Marion Pleasant. Walsh Jesuit was in the tournament but got out.

Tank ....thanks for your interest! However, decisions were made a long while back that OP would stay at LS this year because we were looking at a tournament out of state. As things developed, Coach Hull moved to CMSU and requested that we stay in the Raytown tournament because of obvious concerns with the tournament going over to Raytown rather than Ray South. Plus, we are always looking to scale down the competition!
thanks much for your concern!

I think the Fulton Tournament was looking for a team. The Butler Invitational is another you might want to look into.

Hello "Show Me" Staters. I just wanted to drop in and welcome Oak Park to the great state of Ohio. I'm a K.C. transplant to Columbus Ohio (I grew up in Shawnee and had a cabin at Lake of the Ozarks until last year). Anyway, I'm connected through DeSales by way of my middle school son who wrestles for their club team - the Jr Stallions. I will be running brackets during your visit to our tournament. I hope you enjoy the competition and your visit to our state. Columbus is similar to Kansas City.
The schools attending this tournament are: DeSales, Hilliard Davidson (Columbus), Marion Pleasant, New Carlisle Tecumseh, West Geauga, Massillon Perry, Worthington Christian (Columbus), Oak Park MO, Edison Local, Indian Creek and Willard.
One last note: GO BUCKEYES...beat Michigan!
Smith

TeamLehman-- We look forward to coming to Ohio. Should be a great experience for our team. Please be a kind host and don't don't send us back here to MO with our tail between our legs.

The Desales Invit is a good early season tourney. Massilon Perry, Hilliard Davidson, and Tecumseh are division I teams in Ohio. DeSales, West Geauga, Indian Creek and Willard are division II teams in Ohio. Marion Pleasant, Worthington Christian and Edison Local are division III or small school teams in Ohio. The tourney is a pool tourney with two pools of 5. The top 2 from each pool go into a 4-man bracket; the next 2 placers’ into another 4-man bracket and the 5th place finishers wrestle each other for 9th and 10th. This use to be the format it may have changed this year.
The football playoffs in Ohio will hurt the DeSales and Davidson teams, as they are in the final 8 in their state playoffs. DeSales always has this issue when it comes to early season tourneys. As for Davidson the bulk of their line up is made up of football players 145 to 275. They will both field very competitive teams by the end of the season. DeSales will challenge for a top 5 finish in the state of Ohio in division II. While Davidson will challenge for a top ten finish in division one this season.
Massilon Perry is the best public school division I in the state of Ohio. They however are going through a late coaching change that could affect their performance this year. Only time will tell if this is true or not.
Williard is becoming a division II power in Ohio and a consistent state dual team. Coach Fox has built a nice program in North central Ohio.
Edison Local traditionally has produced state placers and champions on the small school level, but they have lost a few of their top wrestlers due to transferring to Pemberville Eastwood.
This could change ...but this a brief synopsis of the tourney. It used to be a meat grinder in the mid 90's. DeSales and their staff run a very nice one day tourney. The ref's however let me just say," Welcome to Ohio " :D There is not a lot of riding allowed in Ohio.

We just feel it's a daily battle in the room. Not just a one time match. I'm sure there have been many kids that could win the match up with their teammate but not perform as well in competition as the other kid would. Match-ups mean alot. It also makes kids compete every day in the room. Not just on "wrestle off" days. Just the way Coach Mayabb has always done it. Seems to work out well.

What if Shane said he wants to wrestle the same weight as Bailey and Bailey said, "no way jr."?

Smith can correct me if I'm wrong, but if this scenario happened, the coach would make the decision on which wrestler would be at which weight (if I am interpreting Smith's comments correctly).

who did the op kids lose to what were the scores?

Mac Bailey actually pinned the kid that took 2nd. Lost a tough match to the kid that took 3rd so it went by some criteria they had.
Joiner lost a 5-4 match. He actually took 3rd at state also.
Jacob Nay lost 5-4 but actually beat the kid that took first.
Marty Uehlin lost 4-3 in the semis.
Koelling lost OT in the semis.
Shane Nay won in OT. Good match.
Was a great tournament for us. Good kickoff to the season.
