What teams, if any, have sent every single wrestler to the state tournament. Name school and year and class if you can.

I know that a few years ago (2001) Platte County had every wrestler but one place!

Desmet one year (late-90's) qualified the whole team, but no one placed, or won a match as they finished with -1 team points.

Dang! That almost seems like it would be impossible to do.

That Platte County statistic is almost as equally good as Desmet's is bad.

I know that Ray-Pec in 1990 took 11 out of 13 to state and all 11 won their first round. Class 3A at the time.

Ray-Pec won ever first round match in 1990, on their way to the state title if memory serves me.

Yes, they won the championship that year. Another point of interest for that season is that Ray-Pec won without having an individual champion.

Ox,

Didn't SCW take a full team a few time in the mid to late 90's?

I remebre in 1983 Riverview Gardens took 12 out of 13 or all 13 which was unheard of then.
Norhtwest (House Springs) took 12 in 84 and the guy that didn't make it was a 2x placer the next 2 years.
Wentzville in 1987 took 12 adn I think took there whole team in 88
Helias from 83-89 always took atleast 10 to 12 out of 13

I think what we should be talking about is who won state with the least amount of qualfiers.. I remeber in 84 OAk Grove won state while only qualifing like 5 guys.

Blue Springs South won in 3 years ago with I think only 6 or 7 qualfing.

I know I heard won of the times Riverview won state in 70's they only qualfied four and they all won state. I think that was Streb's Sr. Year.

I think Howell qualified the entire team somewhere in the 1982-1984 years. Not sure though.

trivia- who was the coach?

RP-in-Nebraska

FYI, what prompted me to start this thread is my opinion/belief that Oak Park will get all 14 kids to state and I was curious to see if had happened before. It looks like it has happened a couple of times - very impressive for a school to be able to do that!

The Coach of the 1975 Parkway Central Team was Fran Martin.

My question is... Was there ever another father /son combo to win State titles as coaches? I'm blank, I really can't think of one but I could be wrong.

I got this from the state program.

Jerry Brockman Moberly 1976 - Jeremy Brockman Park Hill 1996

Tony Ritter Seneca 1974 - Cody Ritter Seneca 1995, 1996, 1997

Jerry Middleton Smithville 1972 - Taylor Middleton Smithville 1997

Tom Burke Ferguson (McCluer) 1954 - Dave Burke Riverview 1984, 1985

Vic Bonuchi Ritenour 1953 - Ed Bonuchi Excelsior Springs 1983, 84, 85

Tim Donovan MMA 1947 - John Donovan Rock Bridge 1975

Looking at that list ... I wonder how Vic Bonuchi from North County St. Louis ended up in Excelsior Springs.

Fran Martin and Craig the only father/son combo to win titles as coaches, of course Craig was also an individual champ in 1983 for Desmet.

Bob Glasgow from Oak Grove has coached several state championship teams while his son, Kellen, won an individual title in 2004.

Chuck Sears won a state title, KC's first ever, while coaching at Blue Springs, his son won two individual titles from Oak Grove.

Paul Lapinski won three state title as the coach for Riverview, his son Jake won an individual title for Hazelwood East in 1995.

Paul Barbarick coached Ray-Pec to the 1990 class 3A team title, and later coached his son to an individual title, Brett in 1998.

I am NOT sure about this....BUT.......
I THINK Don Paulsen was the head coach of Riverview Gardens in the 1960s......
And, I believe they won Sate TWICE.
I also think Jim Paulsen was the head coach of Hazelwood East in the 90s when they won THREE State titles.

Ox,

The master of suspense, Hitchcock (sp) or one of my old wrestling coaches Roscoe Jennings.

I remember watching "The Birds" while growing up, that movie really freaked me out and my brother knew it, so when I fell asleep he pourd bread crumbs on my chest.

Ted---Right you are......
That intro music and Hitchcock's shadow filling that drawing are etched in my warped childhood memories of the 40s-50s...
I guess his TV show is mostly forgotten, except occasional reruns....
His show was very similar to Twilight Zone in its approach...
But, he was 10 years earlier and the shows were not related to science fiction...just tricky endings... :)
