Who is the class 2 favorite?

Swisher

St. Gen and Savannah aren't going to be push over's. In fact I think it's more likely to see Savannah and St.Gen finishing ahead of most of the schools listed. Excluding Oak Grove and Maybe Platte County.

Oops..... I didn't notice St. Gen is already on there. Savannah isn't though

im not sure that ste. gen will even will their district. With Herky, Owensville, and Desoto all with good teams this year, it should be close. it will be fun to watch...

i heard on a grape vine that Drew Shippy of Odessa won't be wrestling this year... is this true? and if so why? what happened?

D.Shippy is poison! Why would they want him out? He didn't even make weight at districts last year.

every great wrestler has troubles making weight all the time... look at Cameron Harms, and Jason Oberfell

GvMoWrastler

i am pretty good friends with both of them and the Jason Oberman and Cam Harms insidents were flukes... they were told they had 30 min untill weigh-ins but in fact had 30 seconds... they were like .4 and .2 over.

but yes the best of us do have troubles... but not just with weight - in reference to Cabot, shippy, and any other wrestlers with some external factors affecting them

The people voting on this pole are probably casting ballets for their own school. If you go to any tournaments and try to be nonbiased the results would be different. I know it’s all in fun but if anybody witnessed Odessa and Excelsior Springs in the Farmington tournament they would have more votes.

Savannah beat both Excelsior springs and Timberland in duals. I know i may be a savannah fan, and i'm not saying our guys are going to win state, but they are a team to look out for!

I think the poll is wrong. Not favoring savannah but we did beat ex. springs and timberland. Our team is better than any of us thought it would be on the team, considering we lost 4 seniors with 3 of them being state qualifiers and one of them state champ. I think the teams are being underestimated.

if you guys think savannah should be towards the top then you might want to start thinking about moberly because they did beat savannah at mexico tourn.

Savage, If you don’t count the three forfeit by Excelsior Springs because they don’t have enough kids to make a full team you lost 33 to 30. :D

Savagedad

Big brother, your right Moberly should be in that list as well, but i can't hardley say that you beat Savannah at Mexico..... because we did not wrestle each other. Moberly won there pool, and Savannah won there's....so Moberly took 1st buy 194 to 193. It was a great day of wrestling of I don't know how may matches was wrestled to come down to 0ne point between the top 2. Now Mr. Zone, I belive the score between the Savannah, Excelsior Springs duel was 48-33...... but if you want to bring up the opens, let talked about it for the fun of it........ you were open at 171 we had Tristan George, took 3rd or 4th at Mexico and 6th at Ray South undefeted in other duels, So I don't think we can give you any points in that match... now 189 Jerod Gentry I don't think we can give you any points on him either, Jerod placed at Mexico and was in the nasty 189 class at Ray South didn't place but won some matches. Now come's HWT Phil Geeding, lost 2 close matches in mexico took the 2x finalest from (????????) to the end losing 1-0 and another 1-0 match there... didn't get in the medals. but took 3rd at Ray South only loss was to Dingman from Raysouth. So all this to say I don't think we can give you any points back for the opens. Can I say we would have had 6 points in all 3 a the matches...... no, but I well have to hange onto 3 from each match so......... that's 9 at min making the score 39 maybee 42 to 33. Lets go one more step, we were open at Ray South 130,135and 140 and I belive we still finished ahead of you... so lets just keep it fun and have a great season for all. see you a t the mega dist.

I agree moberly should be on that list, they have a very solid team. Hey and if you guys have opens, thats not our fault... your not going to place at state if you have no one at the weight, and savannah does. Also just to note George got 2nd at mexico.

From what I've seen over the last couple of weeks, Platte County is very tough. Havent seen Oak Grove yet, I'm sure they have some mid season transfers waiting in the wings, they just might need one to beat PC.

Savagedad, it was 48 to 33 so if you use ENRON accounting 6+6+6=18 final 33 to 30. Seriously though, I think the small class 2 rural schools are doing great. I am not disrespecting Savannah you always have a good showing. I think you relies that these posts are for fun unlike some people who post here. As far as you being open at 135 thru 140
Excelsior would have given you all you could handle with Grass, Giarratana and Hobbs. Good luck with the rest of the season. See you at Districts.

Wardy... maybe you should get off the midseason transfer in to Oak Grove kick... give Glasgow and Oak Grove the credit they deserve for a quality program.

Definitely a quality program no arguing that. I was being sarcastic, since my little brother lost in the finals to their last "transfer" (Hall). When they are constantly kicking peoples tails then people are going to talk smack and make speculations on whether or not they are doing it legitimately. I respect the heck out of the program they have built there. I felt like adding a sarcastic comment to this discussion. Fair enough?

unfortunately, sarcasm doesn't translate well onto print. And for the less intelligent, it doens't translate at all.

Wardy, are you talking about Hall that wrestled 135 for ray south last year, because I remember him getting beat at sectionals last year by Giarranatana from excelsior Springs and Bradshaw from marshal. He was wrestling for Ray south at sectionals.

jt

I believe Wardy is talking about the 2002 championships. The weight was 145 if I remember correctly. Wardy's lil brother Dustin from Marceline vs. One of the Hall brothers that moved from Raytown South to Oak Grove. If I remember correctly Hall's lil bro stayed with Raytown South.

Just did some research and it turns out the kids name is Ryan Hall(lil bro Alex), and the score was 10-3. And if I am not mistaken I believe Hall transfered after christmas but I could be wrong.

Hall moving to OG was not very encouraged by the coaches, there was some personal issues and at one time his lil bro wrestled in OGs kids club. the Halls were no strangers to the OG wrestling program. Ray-South has always come in during christmas break so the two teams have practiced together for quite some time.

back to the poll . . . last year's class 2 poll was the same top 2, PC and OG.
But in fact Oak Grove had almost triple the votes Platte County did, umm geez. . . .guess that one didn't quite go as planned either!! :D

This poll has the top two teams right, just in the wrong order. Oak Grove is a year away; Platte County should win again this year. Watch out the next three years after that though. Oak Grove has a great group of freshman, including Coach Glasgow's son, the Swift kid who transfered in from Brookfield, plus several others.

By then MSHAA will probably realign everything, again. Isnt that due next year. Seeing what is coming up PC will have some talented kids coming up in 07 and 08.

bluedevil, if last weekends Lees Summit North win by Oak grove is any indication, they might not be a year away, it could be this year for another title...all those freshmen and sophomores done pretty well for their first big tournament, and the returning state qualifiers looked really
strong as well. here is an article from the Examiner if anyone cares to read it. http://www.examiner.net/stories/121205/ ... 5024.shtml (http://www.examiner.net/stories/121205/spo_121205024.shtml)

How would you like to be in our shoes.. we are the grandparents of Shannon Fowler {ranked # 1 at 119 lbs} Oak Grove and Dakota Fowler { ranked # 2 at 145 lbs} platte County? We are very excited and proud Grandparents and pull for both the boys the same but it sure gets difficult at the tourneys,Districts and State when the teams are against each other! Looking forward to the NKC tourney should be a good one!! Good luck to both of our boys!!!! :D [/b]

At least they're not in the same weight class - you'd really have problems then.
