just received this.....

Pass List for Bronze Certified Coaches Attending the ASICS/Vaughan Junior and Cadet National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota

Following a new policy for admission into the Championships at the FargoDome in July, any coach that wishes to attend and gain free entrance with their Bronze Certification and USA Wrestling Coach Membership must pre-register.

Certified Coaches can gain free admission to the Championships in Fargo, the last week of July, but they must email notification to Ted Witulski, NCEP Manager, at twitulski@usawrestling.org by June 7th. After the deadline of June 7th the pass list will be set for the local organizers, no additions will be permitted.

Any coach that is part of a state delegation does NOT have to email in their prior notification. State coach delegations will be credentialed through the regular process.

If you plan on attending as a spectator-coach, email twitulski@usawrestling.org right away to assure your name is included on the pass list for the Championships in Fargo, North Dakota.

Mike,

Answer a silly question, what is the Cadet level? I had not heard this until I got back into following the sport last year.

just got back on the line ....Oldtimer, hope all is good! Cadet is basically 15/16 year old. USAW goes by the year...whatever the athlete turns during the date after Jan 1. would be their age for that age group.

Here is further explanation from Mark Scott at USAW. This infor created a small uproar on email.
I copied this off an email that Mark sent out to State Chairmen and Coaches Counsel members

State Chairpersons:

This procedure (policy) was established by USAW Staff (Events and State Services) to better monitor the number of people using the Bronze Certification for entrance into this event. Please note that no one is being denied access to free admission to the Event, they just need to do a little pre-event work and get their name on the list.

Regarding certification at the event, those coaches taking the course there will be included.

If you have coaches that will be certified in mid-june, and I have to assume for the purpose of coaching your teams, they will be included on your team roster. If there are other circumstances we will work around them. It is not our intent to deny anyone, it is our intent to monitor and gather information on how the Bronze level certification is being used, and by whom.

The Bronze level has been the required certification for admittance at the Fargo event for the last three years, and over that time period there has only been one issue. Since it has been the practice, and to compliment the requirement of all coaches on the floor having to be Bronze Certified, it has seemed to work with little confusion. If we need to take a formal vote on it, we can most certainly put it on the agenda. No one was trying to do anything wrong, it has just been the practice since we changed the certification requirements for the events in Fargo.

I apologize for the timing of the notice but it was thought that this was the time frame that states were beginning to form their teams and would be in contact with the appropriate individuals. As far as notification, we are sending out emails, posting this information on the websites and distributing it as usual.

I also think as an organization we need to take a look at what the purpose of certification is. I think our State Leaders should discuss what the intent and real purpose of certification should be, and if there is another program to allow individuals in to events for free, we should come up with a new program. We all know this has been an issue for many years and I believe it is now time to really address what we want out of our certification program. We can make it a main topic for the upcoming State Leaders Summit in Florida.

At this point, I ask that you do your best to distribute the information, keep me posted on any issues you may have and we will work them all out.

We can discuss all these issues further at Fargo and at the State Leaders Conference.
