I am going to have to go with Vianney. They won it last year and they have most of their starters returning.

It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of Vianey and CBC squads as I think it could go either way. Anyone want to tackle this one?

I beleive that of the three state qualifiers that Vianney had, only Tony Spencer graduated last year leaving Ojile and Muenster back on the squad this year. Not sure who else will be on the team that will be a state qualifier.
CBC has Vilda returning and some new blood with Banning and I understand some of the JV and varsity wrestlers from last year are turning into some bad arsses. Also heard that their 103 from last year who should have stepped up to 12 is not coming back.
Based on this, not sure who would win the MCC if it were between those two squads. But I believe that either one will win.

Hey, i know that Vianney and CBC are both quality teams, but Chaminade could definately come up big this year, i mean, they have 3 returning state qualifiers- Flavin, Samples, and Hardin, a couple of other talented returning starters, and the returning conference winning JV team, they could definately come up big having only graduated 1 starter from last year

Chaminade definately will not win. There is no way that they will beat those four teams. I doubt sluh will either. Desmet has got a shot with 4 returning qualifiers and Ziegler who got much stronger this offseason. But I think CBC will win but Desmet and Vianney definately could win also.

In regard to the 103 from CBC I'm very interested to see how they handle losing a two-time state qualifier. Though a fine team, a loss such as that could really hurt their chances at winning the MCC.

Banning should be their 103. He has wrestled little league for quite some time and I beleive is an All American. He is small, but tough and has shown some amazing cradle series. I think this kid will be a placer all four years.

Just wondering why nobody thinks SLUH could win the MCC this year? I don't know much about their team, so is it just lack of returning starters or what?

Lack of returning starters and probably a lack of experience

I don't see how you guys can go against Vianney. We won last year and we are returning most of our starters. If you are picking other teams to win based on how many qualifiers they had last year. Then I think you need to look at the districts the teams were in. All MCC schools except Vianney were in one with a couple other teams that were so so. And then Vianney with most of the best teams in the St. Louis area. So basing your guess on state qualifiers isn't very logical.

The winner will be the team with the best dual record in the conference or the most points at the conference tournament. That is my guess.

Just posing a question, but why isn't Vianney group with the rest of MCC schools during districts?

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a rematch between Vianney and CBC for the conference title again. I would give Vianney the edge. There is no doubt they are a tough team and with them still having Ojile, Muenster and Bader that really makes them pretty solid. But CBC has some kids that got pretty tough over the summer so it should be interesting...

CBC has Vilda, Smith and Banning who likely will be qualifiers. The way I see it, the conf. title could go either way.

CBC also has a few more quality guys...Aaron, Lamear, Spotanski it should be interesting to see CBC and Vianney go at it

I think Mark Bader will have the Griffins ready to win the MCC. Since he has been there the team has improved each year. They should be even stronger this year and repeat as the champs.
I just hope that Vianney will be OK after Lavell, Travell, Josh, John and the rest of the Pirates treat all of them busters.

Who does DeSmet have that qualified last year?
KDSII

Zeigler, Dietz, Holzer and I think Derek Wagner was a qualifier too from Desmet

zeigler did not make weight, but im sure he would have made state and done a lot of damage.

"zeigler did not make weight, but im sure he would have made state and done a lot of damage."
Well your odds of doing any damage improve 100% by stepping onto the mat. That is a pretty bold statement to make, considering he could not get past the first hurdle - making weight. One can not assume anything about what he would have done, because he just was not there, period.

CBC has banning... smith... aaron.... spotanski.....Lamear and Vilda who will all be state qualifiers this year... aaron and smith almost qualified last year but they were 2 close matches. Spotanski was injured off the mat so he couldnt wrestle near the end. and Lamear has improved and Vilda there is nothing that is needed to be said about him except he did in many respects win state last year

Thanks for the compliment, nobody has ever compared us to Oak Park. I am not too sure we could beat them, but... we should end up 1st place in MCC.

That is true. I guess he will just have to step it up this year. I believe wagner is at Zumwalt West.

I can't help but notice something strange about the resluts of the meet between Clayton and Chaminade. All pins and forfeits except for one match. Call me crazy, but that reminds me of a freshmen meet.

Then why are you telling the Cadets to watch out when those scores were not even against them? CBC has some pretty tough kids this year and I can bet that the 103 and 215 matches (Banning and Vilda) between CBC and Chaminade will not even be close. With K. Smith, LaMear, Robert Aaron and others, they look like they could be a force to be reckoned with.

While the MCC IS getting better, I'm not sure I totally agree with the headline of the preview article:

After watching the Cadets this past weekend at the Patriot Classic, I would say that they are a pretty solid team. Even though they have a couple of opens, I think they will make things interesting in their Conference.

Do you need to know the lineup because you are scared of wrestling a certain wrestler? Their lineup shouldn't be what is on your mind.

I heard that it was fairly one sided with CBC winning all but 2 or 3 matches This is the news that I got:
Vilda was back in the lineup and won by fall
SLUH had several openings at the lower weights so Banning did not have a match
Jordan LaMear did a crazy back flip out of an ankle pick that left the crowd stunned
The CBC freshman squad did a number on the SLUH squad. Heard that they have some tough wrestlers coming through the system.
