Pitchers are pansies. While having a DH is cheating in the eyes of NL fans, it adds the potential for more offense to help make the game more interesting. However, I think AL pitchers get off easy.....those sissies should be forced to bat if they throw at somebody.
Switch hitters, on the other hand, should not be allowed in baseball.......or any other sport . :-D

i think the whole idea of a designated hitter is a cop-out. i dont care how good a pitcher is, if he can't (or just doesnt want to) bat, he's not a baseball player. we dont have "designated pinners" in wrestling.

Pitchers are pansies.
You know what I think is strange? All the way through high school and even into college, most pitchers are decent hitters...at least most of the pitchers I played with were. So why is it that major league pitchers can't hit worth a crap?? That doesn't make sense to me.

uncoordinated pitchers??? yeah there are a bunch (Randy Johnson) but there are a few that can hit (Jason Marquis (sp?) and Woody Williams). I think that you shouldn't have anyone in the field unless they are going to hit! But, one of the most memorable moments for me came when Johnson hit his first homerun.

Yep.
yeah there are a bunch
Yep again.
but there are a few that can hit
Yep, yep again. No argument there. A few = a handful

I am forewarning you KC people that I will probably be in town for the Cardinals/KC series in May. Hubby is pushing hard for it. He has already booked the CArdinals/Denver series in Denver, the Cardinals/Chicago series in Chicago and is now begging to head to KC for that series. So be forewarned in case you are planning to attend.

I like the DH because it keeps aging stars around a lot longer.
I like it because a hitter cannot stay sharp if he only gets to bat once every five days. Maybe if pitchers were also used as utility men & pinch hitters on their days off they'd stay sharper.
I dislike the DH because it reduces the strategy utilized by managers. NL games are more interesting to watch if you like strategy (but AL games are better if you're an offense junky--guess it comes down to what you like).
There are many every day players who can't hit a lick. Bob Uecker, Buddy Biancalana (that's for all my St. Louis friends!), the guy for whom the "Mendoza Line" is named----maybe they should also use a DH for any guy who hit less than .250 the year before. . .

I'd rather see Denny Bautista or Mike MacDougal bat.
When you're 6' 10" & 150 lbs. I just don't think it'd be fair.
What r u still doin' up, Fudge?
Took lil' Joe to the Royals game today. We had fun watching Motown bashers launch 5 homers off of our "re-tooled" pitching staff.
Time to get back out to the K, Fudge. Gimme a call!
Oh, go to bed. . .it's like a quarter after twelve or something like that!
