If you go to the original posting on themat.com, it says they must have been a top finisher in the Big 12 OR NCAA tournament. That's why I gave credit to themat.com for the information.

I was just looking at some that I knew were not NCAA champs in certain years, so I assumed that the years were all referring to Big XII titles.

I think they are only including the newer Big-12...not the older Big-8 guys..... :)

Pendleton was NCAA champ in '04 but NOT Big 12 champ.

That year was Ben's redshirt-freshman year and he took that one
away from Pendleton. I wanna say the score was 9-7ish.

How quickly we forget! Just cause he coached the most dominating, longest-lasting dynasty of stud wrestling squads in history (albeit he coached them in the BigTen - Go Hawkeyes!).

One more - maybe the greatest pound-for-pound heavy ever in the Big 8 - Chris Taylor.
