I have seen this kid wrestle many times and he is an incredible wrestler. He is strong and fast and extremely knowledgeable. He really has a future in this sport if he keeps his head about him. I would love to hear comments from others about him.

Apparently we are talking about different people. The kid I am talking about has been wrestling since he was four and while he is kinda short, He is nowhere near fat. He is a national champ and previously a national triple crown winner, He looks like an athlete not an over weight slob. Above in this thread is a link to his picture in sports illustrated. While it is just a head shot you can tell he isn't fat. AS for calling me a dummy. LOL thats rich. I'll match wits with you any day.

I am not doubting his ability as he is definitely a stud. There is no doubt about that. I know all about his accomplishments as he has many. I'm just saying he probably could have wrestled at a lower weight last year as he had the weight to lose. I wonder how that will affect him when he gets to college. And yes, I'm all about having fun so don't take the comments too personally. Golly, do you yell at your kid if he/she doesn't tie their shoes correctly? :)

In no way is he! I know him personally. He is very well spoken and very polite. He doesn’t talk smack or say anything about other wrestlers. He is very dedicated to sport of wrestling. Why should he wrestle at a lighter class when he has proven he can handle all comers at the weight he is at?

Why would a wrestler cut weight and mess up a line-up (12 state Q's) when he can destroy every wrestler in his weight class. (ex. state championship match) Im sure there are a lot of wrestlers out there who would love to wrestle their natural body weight but sometimes you have to cut weight for the team and in Deron's case he cut weight his Freshman year to 152 while Jake Oberfoell was at 160 and his sophmore year he had no reason to cut because he fit in perfect at 171 and will probably fit in perfect at 189 this year. Wrestling is a lot more fun when you get to eat luch with your friends instead of eating half a bagel and 8oz. of water in the locker room.

I've seen him wrestle a few times and I've never seen him try to pin his opponent and rarely does he even score any near-fall points - it is mainly a takedown show. Is this how he wrestles every match? If so, will this translate into a successful style for college wrestling?

well i saw Deron wrestle two matches at the Marquette tournament this year. he put on a great show. when he wrestled i saw him tech pin both of those opponents, so he did try to pin them, after he kicked their asses. :lol: but no doubt he is an amazing wrestler, and i think he will be able to change that style of wrestling for harder competition in college.

oh also Richard: you are an idiot! i dont even think you have seen Deron wrestle before, since you thought he was a "dough boy". but the important thing is that we all know Richard is a dumbass. :P
