Jeffries has to up there.....I believe he brought the Granby Style to Missouri. Anyway, because him many wrestling went to VA to learn the system to keep up with his wrestlers.

Charlie Scheretz Sr. that is...

It took me awhile to remember his name: John Moore
I copied his bio for the National Hall of Fame:
John Moore coached the St. Louis (Missouri) Ritenour High School wrestling program to 14 consecutive state championships (1948-61). He produced 56 individual state champions and coached many successful football teams as well. In 1983, Ritenour Stadium was named John Moore Stadium in his honor. Moore completed his coaching career in 1966 with a 191-53-4 record.

Myth is about right, kind of like that trophy he owes us:)That former assistant coach at Hannibal, that always claimed that Starkey was just a puppet coach....
I think he left the glitz and glimmer of Marblehead and moved to some hick town out west...

Paul Lapinski was not a bad one either. Coached four state championship teams in the 70's at Riverview Gardens then was an assistant at Hazelwood East when they won three titles in a row in the 1990's. The man knew his stuff

The late Wally Curtis - Park Hill , was a great coach and ambassador of the sport.
As a coach for 20 years at the High school level, I can tell you that I looked at many coaches for my examples...
Overall disposition at meets....Bill Tuck
Organizational skills and work ethic .... Gary Mayabb
Professionalism....Mike Hagerty
How to treat your assistant coaches....Hank Reese
How to care for your kids .....Ron Diblasi
How to give to the sport and not loose sight of whats really important (your family) .....Chuck Sears & Roger Denker
How to make your program a family run organization .... Bob Glasgow & Ron Mirikitani
How to give to kids that do not even wrestle for your program.... Dan Boudria, Doyle Simpson
The list goes on and on.......

Glenn,
I thought you might have mentioned Jack Crider.
Jack had a great run at Forest Park. Some of the notables from FPCC include Terrell Williams, MU's first AA, Jon Sondengregor, MU' first Big-Eight Champion, Brian Jackson, who won AA honors on three levels, and Shep Pitmann, who for many years was MU's all-time single season record holder for wins.
Shep Pitmann coached the original Team St. Louis for many years, as was a very well-respected coach in the area.

THFZN,
Your right I just ran out of time the bell was ringing....
How to provide opportunities for kids regardless of race, economic background or ability......Jack Crider (I would not have wrestled Freestyle, gone to college, wrestled in college, or became a coach if not for him)
How to produce winners with nothing....Charlie Sheretz Sr.
out of time again...
