do not mean to disrespect Sobol, he is a very good wrestler but I do not think that a match between them would be that close. Winn has big time experience at big time tournaments.

I had the pleasure and honor of coaching Mike Sobol the last 2 years....
He had a very close loss to Taylor Moore at State last year....
Taylor also had extensive National and big-time tournament experience....
I think it would be unfair to presume that the match would not be close....
Just my humble opinion....................

I was going to say (in response to the original question) injury, illness, officiating and coaching, but with Ox coaching him, you can scatch that excuse.

Which leads into my next post .

I wonder how many people don't post on Mo. Wrestling .com because of a select few people have taken it on them selves to ridicule and chastise any one on this sight for spelling error, punctuation, or incorrect grammer. How many people may of had something to add but just did'nt feel like getting hasseled. Proper spelling and grammer are very important .But If you get what a person is saying why do some people act like your post has less meaning than theirs because of simple mistake.

T.D.C.Dad

You snunk one in on me Fudge. Even though we have went around on this subjuct. That wasn't directed at you. Of course I did mention champ so I should of guessed you would respond. :)

A few spelling mistakes and bad grammar doesn’t bother me too much. Everybody makes a mistake every once-in-a-while. However, those that laughably attempt to be cool or funny while bastardizing the English language with misspelled words and phrases that only they and their equally illiterate friends can understand are very irritating. Honestly, sometimes I’ll read a post by someone on here 5 or 6 times to try to determine what they were saying or intended to say. More times than not I’ll figure it out, but occasionally, I will have no idea what the intent was.

Now a word like “opinion” has been misspelled on here several times as “opion”– I think it is an optical illusion or something. I knew exactly what Champ meant and I was just teasing him. But, proper grammar, spelling, syntax, verb conjugation, pronoun use, verb tense, etc. goes a long way in allowing your post to be read accurately and, consequently, getting your point across.

I knew you where just teasing but I Don't think The_Champ did. Which is what I was getting at. Some of these highschool wrestler skins arnt as thick as your's and mine. I also think derogatory remarks deter them from posting information they have to add. Which I really like reading and in my OPION  that is what this sight is all about.
Any way have agood day RP

Everyone has their own approach........style..etc....
Sometimes, I agree with RP.....I simply cannot make sense out of a post....at all..
I have no idea whatsoever what they are trying to say.....I just laugh and go on.... :)

There's something wrong if the fear of ridicule is going to stop you from posting your opinions. I don’t care if it’s a kid or an adult, post your opinions, have the courage to stand up for what you believe in. Just understand that no matter what you post, someone’s going to have a different opinion… and more then a few of those people are going to tell you about it. Be open minded enough to realize that most are poking good natured fun…there is really just one person that knows everything and has the right opinion on everything (Me). Just my opinion though. I will say Huck and Hopsing are right on the money with most as well…therefore, if any of those guys call you a dumb@#$....u’s prolly is won.

I know TDC comments are valid. I know that this post will get me attacked. Consider a coaches wifes comments from Adrian. The regulars here blasted with out mercy. I am sure she and her husband are now convinced that they are not welcomed. Another lady commented about a child who had been illegally arrested and ask advice. The regulars on this forum laughed at her. Someone recently ask about 103 to 125 classes and was told to watch himself.

This is a social club. Outsiders are not welcome. There are snippets of information that are interesting but if you are not in with the regulars, absolutely keep your thoughts to yourself.

RP-in-Nebraska
10-21-2005, 12:22 PM
I don’t think that is very accurate. The “regulars” blast away at morons like tRage whose very first post on this site said “wtf kinda name is fudge tunnel? sounds kinda gay...i can almost bet yer gay”. We sometimes tease newcomers in jest but most people can tell the difference. Most of the heckling and teasing is done between the regulars themselves.

As far as the woman who was asking advice about her kid that was illegally arrested, I thought we all had good, instructive comments and advice for her and everybody was sympathetic – nobody laughed at her that I can recall.

As far as Class 1 Monkey posting in the class 1 forum asking about 103 to 125, the regulars pretty much left him alone. Fudge posted a “rolling eyes” post because that was about the fifth post that generically asked about who would be at which weight class – such a general question can’t yet be answered before the season starts. Zone was just giving some helpful advice and MG’s “spank yourself” comment was in response to his name being mentioned. Later, in other threads, he had some great input and had a civil conversation with Fudge.

I was not a regular poster when Mrs. Banning made her posts so I don’t even know what she said. I do know that she threatened Jonathan and this site with legal action which made people here more irritated with her. But, as a result, the off-topic got cleaned up a little bit. Other than that, I don’t know enough to comment on the situation.

In general, I don’t think the regulars are that bad to anybody who wants to make a legitimate comment. The_Champ knew I was joking with him.

I also empathize with T.D.C. Dad and chickenman. Mrs Banning's feelings got hurt and she was then kicked into oblivion. I do believe she perhaps incited a fight, but extreme overkill would be a complete understatement.

I remember the lady with the concern for the child. This concern was shared by all of Joplin. This forum corrected her English, made many snide comments, and did have a good laugh. There were definately people who showed concern. I am sure this was appreciated but she pretty much quit posting also.

I really enjoy MissouriWrestling.com. I read it all the time. But sometimes things get out of hand. Because of this, many people are like me and stay out of the "social club". The forum really does belong to the regulars.

This is totally false. I just went back and checked all four of the topics titled "Terrorism" which were created by Proudmama in each of the "Class" threads. Every single "regular" was extremely sympathetic and helpful. Absolutely nobody belittled her. The only person that was somewhat disrespectful was a police officer by the name of "Izzy" who ended up getting blasted for his "police can do no wrong" attitude. The only spelling correction was between two regulars when Darth Bader corrected Vanilla Gorilla's spelling. Go back and read those topics and you'll see that MG, Fudge, myself, and the rest of the regulars were being as helpful as possible.

On a more positive note:

The City of Joplin has agreed to pay $16,000 to the family of a boy nearly a year after two city police officers, Ron Buchanan and Charles Ward, allegedly violated the child's civil rights.
The agreement, filed in Jasper County Court, shows that both the city and Jamie and Jane Karns, of Joplin, the boy's parents, did not wish to pursue a civil lawsuit, and that the cash settlement will effectively end all possible litigation against the city related to the November, 2004, arrest of the then 11 year old boy.

These are the first two paragraphs of the front page of the Joplin Globe. The Karns were told that they could do much better but they are extremely good people and realy did not care about the money. I wish the Karns family well and hope everyone here does as well.

I never did like it when people refered to Police Officers as Pig's but I think these two deserve that label.

proudmama
10-26-2005, 01:38 PM
I do not know if it is true but the word on the street is that Officer Ward was suspended for a short period of time and Officer Buchanon was demoted. Again this is the rumor mill with out substantiation.

As many of you know, if a policeman breaks the law in Joplin, everything is kept secret. I do not pretend to understand, it is just the way Joplin is run.

I would agree with you obnoxio, but the Karns would have settled for nothing. They just wanted the right action to be taken. It was not so they stayed at it. I am very proud of them.

Did someone mention Susan Banded?

I love this e-mail, but she's the "C-word":

Jonathan,

Just when I thought it was safe to go on to the missouriwrestling.com
message boards to get some great stories about the action in high school
state championships from the past weekend, I come to find out:

* Securityguard4u is mouthing off about shooting aliens and
accidentally shooting members of his family. He also continues to make
reference to his nutsack (oh come on, enough- is the guy going through
puberty?)

* MG Grievous is a total sexist and the board promotes his
discriminatory views by allowing:

o A cartoon of a busty woman (right there in your face)

o His demeaning comments to/about women: "Some people just ramble on.
And you're a woman, no wonder". Let me remind you that not all of your
participants in the forum are men. The women of the wrestling community are
generally siblings or moms. The siblings have to read the insults hurled at
their brothers who I am sure they love and admire. The moms are the ones
who volunteered in the youth clubs, drove the kid to practice, worked at the
high school fundraisers for the team, organized the club tournaments and
worked tables, concessions, etc. - I think you get the picture. We should
be able to sign on without the vulgarity and discrimination that is
constantly aimed at us. It is almost as if we are walking into the boys
locker room or a frat house.

Come on, Jonathan. Let's get this site cleaned up. I am blind copying my
attorney on this message for several reasons:

1. I use my name in my posts. An open insult directed at me could be
grounds for a slander or libel suit.

2. As administrator of the message board, you are in fact condoning the
discrimination directed at the women who post and view the board. This is
analogous to sexual harassment in the workplace. I would appreciate it if
you could get the message out to some of the offenders or edit their posts
until they get the picture.

Although I am signing my name to this message, I would appreciate that my
name not be used as the complainer as was done recently with the wife of
someone who apparently was getting slandered. I do not relish the thought
of getting backlash from some of these folks, especially since I will be
involved with high school wrestling soon and most of these jerks post more
on the high school class sites than the kids' site.

Thank you very much for your cooperation,

Susan Banning

I wouldn't mind seeing Gibbs from Moberly jump up to 215. He has been jumping up to help the team some this year while Jorgeson(SP?) was out. He will give Sobol or Wolk a handful no matter what weight he goes. Just my opinion. I have been known to talk to myself, to bad I never listen. :smt084

legrider
01-06-2006, 07:52 AM
Last year I do believe is in the past. With Sobol being out for the majority of the year and coming back will definitely have an impact. One thing you might want to remember is Charlie will hold nothing back and you won't hear excuses like (sick, missed a lot of time, or injury) no matter what happens. Hardly understand how a 9-0 score is labeled as "Butt on a Platter" that should be reserved for teching a wrestler before you pin him. I will go on to say that with Sobol winning 9-0 Sobol still didn't feel comfortable, because one mistake and losing 9-0 could turn into a win by pin. Happens all the time when great wrestlers are wrestling.

Is State here yet? Can't wait to see Page Arena. (oops I forgot it isn't that anymore). :o

I think I'd rather take on a kid who's only placed once (5th) versus a kid who's placed 5-1-2. That's a no-brainer.[/quote:8d3a1]

My Point exactly my friend

The only 189lb wrestler in the state that would give Wolk a match is Deron Winn. And I still think Wolk would win. Sobol better stay at 215lb.

I think Fudge Tunnel was laughing at your comment because Winn would not only beat Wolk, he would embarrass him.

I doubt he would embarass him unless im mistaken Winn lost last yr to Moore of Oak Grove and in the state finals Moore had a controversial match with wolk and barely beat him....they seem pretty evenly matched to me...

I guess the population of retardsandwichville is now 2. We'll never know. But my money would be on Wolk.

I'd love to see that match.. Wolk vs Winn... I would love to see two big guys with that much talent and speed battle it out... As far as saying he would embarass Tanner Wolk, you gotta be kidding, you can never say a kid like Wolk or Winn could ever be embarassed by an opponent.. If I were you I'd be embarassed because that was a stupid comment from an obvious biased person who has probably never watched Tanner Wolk wrestle..

I don't know, I watched Winn tech fall Cauley in the finals last year and watched Wolk wrestle at Cape the last four years. I think Cauley and Wolk have approximately the same style. I would give the advantage to Winn. I wouldn't say he would embarass him though, both wrestlers are very good.

Just my opinion.

Yeah its impossible to say I guess.. you never know.. they both lost close to Moore from Oak Grove last year but we will never know what would happen if they wrestled (unfortunately).. I just don't understand why people get on here and down wrestlers saying that they would get embarassed when nobody could possibly know something like that, I don't mind opinions but stupidity is a hard thing for me to tolerate

back to Mr. Sobol, does anyone from Herky read this site. I would really like to know if the kid will be able to wrestle this year. I enjoy watching him a great deal. Gotta pull for all the kids from Jeff County (well except northwest :D). Any update on his status would be appreciated.

He did wrestle this past weekend and did win. He is going to wrestle the is upcoming weekend as well in the Semo conf tourny. He is a bit sore and we are trying to take our time with him. Our goal is to have him ready and at 100% for dist/sect.
