Affton Girls Tournament Recap

The Esmond Ford Memorial Tournament is a two-day competition held in honor of
Esmond Ford, former Affton and Missouri Baptist standout wrestler and athlete who passed away in 2016. The tournament was just a one day tournament for the boys, but coach Devon Ford added the girls division this year. Esmond would have been proud of the grit and determination all of the ladies demonstrated. Here’s the breakdown:

The evening was won by Rockwood Summit, who’s first team scored 144.5 points with
three champions in Addie Wilhelm, Sam Heitbrand and Sheri Owens. Second place was won by DeSoto with 110 points, who had champions with Isabella Hartwell, Hunter Bullock, Jaycee Foeller, and Hannah Eberhardt.

Despite DeSoto having four champions and Summit having three, Summit’s overall team
performance and higher numbers were too much for DeSoto to overcome. Festus also turned in an impressive performance, as they placed fourth in the twelve-team field with only three wrestlers.
